finally found one for the right money. Get it tomorrow. Got a selection of 4x12's kicking around so i may set about 'Chet' ing' it come the new year. Will it handle 16 ohm's?

I'm not sure but just email Chet. His email is on his profile. I think it has to be 8 ohms. Congratulations Niki! 8)

I checked the specs. It is 8ohm only. Guess my idea of a 2x15,2x10 cab is out the window.

I don't know how it would sound, but you can connect two 16 omhs speakers in parallel and they will give you a 8 omhs total load.

Claude.

bit dissapointed overall. The reverbs weak, theres very little range on the controls and it eats tubes. No bias pot either, it really needs cooling on the bias. Ah well time to get the soldering iron out. Here we go again. I certainly dont see how fender justify £370 for these when nearly every other manufacturer gives better performance at a cheaper price courtesy of china. I dont care where its made, just what it sounds like.

Troublecall, im on the case with Bilm's page thanks mate. I already grounded the mid controlvas that page suggested which has made a world of difference.
I'm looking for a way to make the reverb more prominent now. The noise on the reverb doesnt boother me too much.

I thought my BJ was trebely also at first. Take it for a grain of salt but I run my B-12, T-8, M-4, and my tone knob on my strats between 4-7 and it gets pretty deep.

I would research the adjustable bias mod. I have found several sources that say it's not a good idea. In fact the guy I got my tubes from (eurotubes) also said dont do the mod it will suck the life and tone out of the amp. Many of his customers are looking for tubes to breath life back in the amp after doing this mod.

Hmmm im very sceptical as to a bias mods tone sucking capabilities. The amps bias definately needs cooling down its far too hot, which ive always found to be the biggest tone suck for a clean sound and headroom. I even re-bias my marshalls cooler when they come back from service, and i use those for skyhigh gain.
Lucy whats your techs suggestion on lowering the bias then? Could you ask him for me please?

Could it be that the eurotubes guy just wants amps biased hot so he sells more valves? :?

I'm not going to pretend to be an expert. I'm just passing on what info I have found on this subject. If the eutotubes rep was the only one saying this I would not have posted this info. I searched the internet and found the same advice from several sources. In the end tone is subjective and if this mod works for you then go for it. I find that my amp heats up pretty quickly but I havent had any problems and Im somewhat satisfied with the tone with just a tube change.

Ok i bought some low draw JJ el84's today. The Amps improved a lot, the treble control actually does something now.

Thanks to Hotrox uk. Totally class act shop and only 25 miles from my house. :D
