Hey guys-

For transportation purposes I am thinking of trading in my JCM900 half stack on something and the new twin caught my eye. Problem is that it doesn't seem to be very popular- I can't find any recordings featuring the amp and haven't been able to find one to play myself.

I am hoping that it will end up something like my 900 but smaller and with a better clean channel.

Does anyone have any experience with this amp? Any thoughts?

I have had the jcm 900 and the new fender twin. i really don't like it and i LOVE fender amps. i would stick with the jcm 900. so much of a better amp. if you are really looking for an amp try a 65 twin reissue. way better then the new twin and a few hundred cheaper

Good info, thanks. But the 900 is just too big for gigging in Manhattan.. Need to find the impossible: small amp that sounds big, is portable and doesn't cost 3 grand.

CW,
I just bought the new Fender Twin and used it at my Church this past Sunday. We have a large auditorium (seats 2000). Due to the Christmas pageant and lack of channels on the board the bass player and I were left out of the mix. I had the switch on 100 watts and put her on 4. The orchestra director came to me after the run thru and said you know you can turn that down some...

The clean channel is awesome. The tone is awsome. Deep full bass wonderful mid and bright full highs. Mix that with the long spring reverb and its Suuweeet..... The tremelo is OK not a big fan. The OD Channel is good... Does the job for me. I ran a digital delay thru the effects loop and it worked as advertised.

It weighs 80+ pounds thank God for wheels. It really needs handles on each end instead of one at the top. I'm going to get an ATA case for it. All in all I am pleased with it. :)

The auditorium I mentioned earlier seats 1200 to 1500. I think I exaggerated a little. I had the amp angled back to bounce off the ceiling and after the auditorium filled up I had to bring it up to 5 to cut thru the PA mix. Still a good amp and run thru the mixer you'll get all you want.

Good information, thanks for your help.

I think that I am going to go with the '65 Deluxe though. I heard someone playing a Texas Tele through one at a club last night and it was incredible! Exactly the sound I was looking for and those are not even very large.

Good choice! I got a Fender 65 Deluxe and it is a wonderful amp, especially for the price and weight.

I promise you won't regret buying a '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue. To me, the Twin has a little too much headroom. I mean, if you want pristine clean at any volume, then the Twin Reverb is for you. If you love that thick tube tone, as I do, then go with the Deluxe Reverb. The Deluxe is plenty loud. If you need more volume, mic it. Actually, if you need more volume than the Deluxe can put out, you are playing one HUGE venue, and you would need to mic almost any amp anyway. I always recommend the Deluxe Reverb. It just don't get better than a Deluxe Reverb!! (Except maybe 2 Deluxe Reverbs in stereo!)

and for something completely different...

Take a look at the Jazz Master. It is one of the most under-rated amps there is. Very small, light, portable, and tough, very powerful, and really great tone. Stack it against any amp in the store, you'll hear what i mean.

If you are going to shell out for a 65'twin or Deluxe, suggest you also take a look a the Cyber Twin SE. The factory presets typically have too much distortion, so don't be put off the factory settings. It has the tones and tremendous versatility.

The great thing about both is that they have the great tones, and are quite tough. I have the SE (and the CT). Some of my buds who use the Jazz Master Ultra Light are very pleased with it. Actually, i am think of buy one for all the reasons i stated above, the major one being portability (I am going on 55!)

Ciao,
Johnny.
