Hey, guys. I just bought a Blues Junior a couple days ago. I love how it sounds, but there are some weird noises going on with it. When I hit a low note, on the fifth or sixth string, the note is surrounded by a weird fuzz artifact. It doesn't happen with higher notes, on the first string for example. It's not overdrive: I run the pre-amp at about 2 and adjust the master to how much volume I need. It happens at low volume and high volume, but of course is more noticeable at high volume. On my tele or my les paul, the result is the same. I was thinking it was the speaker, but it only happens with low notes.

Also, there is a constant hum that comes from the amp. If I crank the master volume and engage the fat switch, the hum gets quieter, but it's still there- again, happens with tele or les paul. It's not 60cycle hum, and it gets a little quieter if I turn down the treble, but I can zero all the tone and reverb pots and it's still there. I would really appreciate any help or direction you guys could give me. I bought it new and could take it in to be checked out, but I just bought it and don't want to part with it so early. Thanks so much, Donnie.

Welcome to the Forum.

My personal opinion is to take it back and get it checked out.

Exactly what I would do.

Thanks for your input guys. That's what I was figuring, but I guess I was hoping for a quick and easy fix.

As for getting a DRRI, I already have a '68 DR, and got the Blues Junior cause it's a little easier on my back and I worry less about a $ amp getting messed up/gone missing over a $$$$$ amp.

I guess I'll take it in and let the local tech look it over. It's disappointing though. It's an awesome sounding little amp that you can crank without going deaf, and it takes to my Boss Blues Driver like a fish to water. Well, poop.

Thanks, Donnie.

It could be the tubes as well! My guess is that you are getting some tube rattle. If you replace the tubes, which you really shouldn't have to on a new amp, it will probably go away.

Just my $0.02.

Thanks, Bill. It really sounds like it's coming from the speaker, or rather the weird fuzz artifact is coming out of the speaker. I hope it's just the tubes and not something more serious. I've checked to make sure the tubes are well seated, but it still has the issues. Maybe it's just a bad tube or something, though. Thanks, Donnie.

If it is a new amp I'd definitely take it back . You should not be having that problem with it. I know it's a drag to have something wrong with a new amp but that's what the warranty is for. Good luck my friend and Welcome to the forum! :)

Its a tube problem, i had the same problem as you, and i got it fixed for free today, mine had melted plastic on it, someone in the store that i bought the amp from played the amp without removing the plastic manual where the tubes was hehe

Could be tubes or cone cry from the speaker. Take it back.
