I'm new to the forum and been out of music for a while. I'm a keen Fender sound fan and wandering whether to get the Twin Reverb or Deluxe Reverb reissue amp.

The Deluxe is on the small wattage side and I presume the sound breaks up a little earlier than the Twin Reverb. Mind you the Twin is very heavy to carry.

Are there any other major pros and cons to think about?

Where are you gonna play this amp?
If you're just playing at home get a small amp. It will sound better there because you can turn it up a bit.
If you're playing in a small club, 30 watts will be fine.
If you're playing a bigger place, you'll need more watts...OR you can have the sound man mic the amp.
So, where are you gonna use the amp?

Love,
Todd

Having owned a Twin for over 30 years, you'll be hard pressed to get it to break up at a reasonable level. It is painfully loud. Also the weight is really wearing on me.
The Deluxe Reverb Reissue is a very sweet sounding gigable amp.

Why such a big power spread?
You could try a Super Reverb or a Bassman. They're in the 40-45 watt range. Very cool sounding and very different amps. I get to use a Bassman RI on a fairly regular basis. Really nice amp.
I would stay away from anything in the Hot Rod series due to reliability issues. I know, I also own a Hot Rod Deluxe. It has spent quite a bit of time in the shop in the short two years I've owned it.

It all depends on the type of music you play.

Hi Todd

I intend using the amp at home (practising), at rehearsals (small room) and gigging (most of which would have the amp mic'd up). I can't see the gigs being to more than 300/ 400 at most.

I've more or less discounted a twin because of the weight but just want find out if the Deluxe Reverb is up to practice, rehearsals and smallish gigs plus get get some lovely clean sounds.

If you mic it, go with the Deluxe Reverb.

I agree. Sounds like the Delux Reverb is a good choice for you. Or, hell, for me.

(And a '63 Supro wouldn't be bad either.)

Love,
Todd

I'd definatley go the Deluxe Reverb!
They're a pretty loud amp for 22 watts!

I actually have a 63 Supro Martinique. It's a reso glass guitar with a stock piezo pup built into in the bridge. It was my first electric guitar bought from my brothers guitar teacher inn 1964. It's a real unique looking and sounding axe.

Very nice. What type of songs does it sound best on?
The best sounding amp I ever heard was a Supro. Don't know what model or age but it was from the '60's and about the size of a Twin Reverb.

Love,
Todd

My 63 Supro is a guitar. It screams for slide guitar, but can pretty much cover it all from Jazz, blues to rock.

Nice.
Do you have a picture of it?

Love,

Todd,
Yep I have photos. I am a professional photographer, artist and musician.
Now a days I pay the bills with photography.
Shoot me a return email and I'll send you a shot of my Supro and my 72 Strat.
My Twin is in the shot too.
