Promise not to tell him !!!!!

I got my son a tweed made in the USA pro jr. for Christmas.

He has been stuck with a cheap digital amp (not a Fender) for a few years now and well it stinks.

He has been asking for a good amp and has improved his playing 200% over the last year.

I am sure he will be thrilled to have a real Fender tube amp and I'll be willing to bet it will get him even more into playing.

He's 16 and he and his buddies are talking about a garage band.

What a great surprise that's gonna be for him! I love my 20 pound tone monster PJ. The volume goes to 12, but I doubt if he'll need to go past 6 or 7 for a nice breakup.

Hello Blues Bondsman,

He'll love you for it.
I can remember how happy I was when
my mum gave me a tuning fork for my birthday.
It kinda solidified things and made playing the guitar
somehow more than just an exercise.

Cheers.

Thanks for the comments !!!!

I was so lucky as a kid, My buddies had a bunch of musician family members and so we got to play through some awesome old vintage stuff (back in the 70's).

My son will freak out when he opens it !!!

He has all of the sudden taken off with his level of playing and unterest in the guitar, it may have something to do with girls, I know it did with me when I was sixteen, The young ladies think he is so cool.

If he gets a band going I will let him gig with the cyber twin too.

His favorite player is David Gilmour right now and some of the Christian contemporary artists too.

Passing on a love of the guitar to my son is VERY !!!!! COOL !!!!!!!

You didn't say, does your son play through your guitars?

My son is also 16 and a guitarist. It makes us very happy. What fun making musical discoveries and sharing the info with each other.
Funny thing: I'm a Lefty, my wife is a Lefty. Our son, Layne, is a righty.
Can't play any of my guitars.
Got him a Strat. Rigthy.

Love,
Todd

That will be the next step in his playing, to find his own axe.

right now he has a modified squier 51, not a bad guitar by any standards.

He wants a Strat you know the reliced Gilmour strat, I told him he needed a job first, then he was welcome to buy a $4700.00 guitar with his own money.

and I do let him play the Tele, my Strat will be his the day they close the casket on me.

The boy has the most acidic sweat known to man and he can destroy a set of uncoated strings in days !!!!

It is my sincere hope he doesn't get to have your Strat for a long, long time.
He shouldn't feel too bad about the Gilmore Strat - I have a job and I can't spend THAT much for a guitar. (And I'm Lefty so I guess I'd have to play it like Jimi....Irony?)
I've never heard of a problem that bad with sweat but, I imagine it's a kind of plus that he's playing SO MUCH that he can burn through strings that fast. My 16 year old plays a lot and breaks strings a lot. Then, in perhaps his last attachment to childhood, he asks me to change the strings for him. Any time.

Love,
Todd

The strings get gunked up within a couple of days when he plays on them.

it crazy how fast the bottom two turn black and get yukie.

any way.

The amp showed up last night on the big brown truck, as soon as I get him out of the house I'll crank it up and see how it sounds.

It has tubes with no markings on it whatsoever.

His eyes lit up and all he could say was WOW !!!!

My son knows the value of an american made tweed Fender.

The amp sounds awesome, crank that dude up past 7 to 8 and sweet overdrive pours out.

He also got a nice capo some jazz style picks and one of those tab white pages, he had volume one and so now he has one and two.

The kid kills me how he can grab that tab book and be playing the song later that day, sure wish it came that easy for me !!!!!
