So do you think the Blues Junior might be delivering chiming cleans at a similar volume to the 1974x ? Or go up a power level to retain clean?

I suppose a trip to a shop is in order, although that means a serious trek as none of my locals stock nice stuff.

Since it is a long way (I have the same deal here) - If you don't mind a suggestion - call the ones you want to vist first and make sure they have what you want to try before making the trip. I could have saved myself traveling time and expense, not to mention the let down, when I found out that the store didn't have what I was interested in.

One other suggestion -- Take with you the amp you want to pair it with. Your guitar you use would help you too. And all that's IF they have a room you can try the amp out in that is away from all the noise.

Not trying to tell anyone what to do - Just offering suggestions and trying to help.

If you're looking for clean, there is no better clean than the Fender Blackface clean. I wouldn't pair anything else with that 1974. I would suggest the Princeton Reverb Reissue - 15 watts, or the Deluxe Reverb Reissue - 22 watts(my personal favorite), or the Twin Reverb reissue - 85 watts(this thing is no joke-pristine clean at ANY volume) All come with the Fender Blackface clean, reverb, and vibrato.
