Hey there, this is my first post, but ive been a long time user of fender gear. I just bought a Hot Rod deluxe, having owned an origional Blues Junior for about 7 years. Initially, I couldnt have been happier with the amp. the tone was great, the drive channel was suprisingly usefull (never been a fan of Fender drive up untill now) and the headroom for live shows is astonishing.

However, Ive recenelty started to notice im getting a particually muddy sound, esspecially through the clean channel. It's not a driven tube sound as i only run the amp at around 5-6 on the volume, I dont have that many effects in my chain (3 boss pedals and two visual sound pedals with tru bypass). I bought this amp second hand, but its only about 10 months old. The previous owner replaced the stock tubes with mesa ecc83's

could the valve change be an issue? has anyone had a problem with this before? any help or advice would be greatly apreciated as I really dont want to have to sell this amp.

I'm running a set of JJ's in mine with the stock speaker and I like the. Try www.eurotubes.com they sell sets of tubes for different applications for the HRDlx. I'm using their Blues Option #1 right now and I really like them. It uses 6L6's in the power section.

It probably is a tube issue.

Im sure you though of this, but a weak battery in the guitar can cause a muddy sound...
