hi, a while back my 1998 Acoustasonic Jr.'s second channel started acting up. when i plug either a mike or guitar it goes full volume and creates feedback. the volume appears not to be working...it's not the knob. i pluged in an expression pedal and by lowering the volume on that the channel works...but that's the ONLY way i can reduce the volume. it's a year out of warranty... could it be a bad volume pot? anyone have any ideas?

anyone have anything like this happen with any other amp?

i don't have a lot of money to spend on getting it fixed and would like to know if anyone has an idea of what it possibly could be, whether i could fix it myself, or around an idea of what it could cost to get it fixed (ballpark figure for general reference only)

thanks for any and all help!

hi....hope someone will see this and reply. i was at a music store today and went into the repair section and explained to the guy what my volume is doing. he said it's the volume pot. it w/b $85.00 parts and labor.

i've been searching for my manual w/o success... i JUST had it a week ago...lol!

so i downloaded the schematics for an acoustisonice jr. from the fender.com schematics section. i can't seem to find what type of volume pot is used.

would anyone know which one was used? (the schematic is dated 2003 - mine is a 1998 amp). does fender mostly use the same volume pot for all amps?

any answer is appreciated for the time that you popped in here to read this...

thanks again, in advance.

The Scat shows a 50k ohm pot for the Gain on the Mic/Line channel. It's R58 in the upper left vicinity of the schematic. It shouldn't be that hard to get to and you could probably solder it yourself and save the case if you are comfortable with that. On the other hand, if you have no idea what to do it might be worth paying the money and not messing anything up electronically.

thanks... it's still sitting here. i opened it up and it doesn't look like a regular pot as in an old fender amp - it looks like it sinks into a circuit board. havs anyone seen these or replaced one?

thanks for your reply!
