I was surprised to find out how close I can get with the Sunn Model T 98 model to the medium gain crunch sound of a mid 90s Engl Savage 120 - especially with my strat.

Do any of the experts here know if that is coincidence or if the virtual wiring scheme kind of supports that impression? Makes me curious about the real Model T reissue now.

I'm amazed how much my CT sounds like a 'real' Super Reverb. But, if you look at the CT documentary you will understand the technology

Just bought a used Cyber Twin SE and I'm absolutely in LOVE with this amp..... oh yeah... this lady is in heaven. I am not a pro musician, but now I play one in my house. :)

I got the 4 button Fender footswitch with the amp, but I am interested in getting one with more buttons so that I can have more options.

Can I use a Behringer FCB 1010 Foot Controller(or similar switch) with this amp? would it be easy to set up to use? Will I need any other hardware to make this work??

Also, being a geek at heart, in as simple terms as possible, how can I get this thing connected to my PC to create my own presets??

Yes, you can. I still have my original CT, brought before the CT MIDI foot controller was released, and I brought a DigitTech Control 7 10 button MIDI board. Setting it up was very ez, but I also used the Fender 4-button quick-select. Why? Because as intended, I had the main four presets I used linked to it. With the Control 7, I had the tuner and all my custom presets linked to the various channel buttons.

You really don't need to connect the CT to a PC to create and save you own presets. Once you turn any knob on the CT, the 'Save' button will flash and if you press it, you can save it to the Player's Lounge section.

But, having a software program does make it easier. I use the Cyber Commander software http://www.generalcybersystems.com/CyberCommanderCT.php. This software is a must have IMO for all CT users. The main reason being is that it will back-up all your data!

For example, if for any reason your CT logic chip gets 'fried' and you have to send the CT to be repaired, you WILL lose all your custom presets. If you have the CC-CT, all you would have to do is 'upload' your presets back into the CT memory. I know because I had to do this awhile back :) .

Thank you for you information. I guess i will go ahead then and get the footswitch. I also met Gary Hoey last night after a concert. I briefly talked to him about the Cyber Twin SE because he had a hand in several of the persets available on it. He said he really loves the amp. He still uses it a lot in studio.

Dear CyberTwin Fans,

It's rather heart warming to return & see there's a CyberTwin community! And of course, a big hello to everyone, even the non Cyber Twin afficionados.

I still see Cyber Commander getting around, last I spoke with the current organization, seems the software is "original" and has had no updates. the software seems to rock on, from XP to Windows 8 and even the latest Macs. At least that's what I'm told.

I still have my cybertwins & they continue to be tonefull & fun. Especially nice when the amp is set up with a sequence of presets to get the right tones when you need them. Noticed & tried some nice new gear over at Roland, the GA-212. Not as progammable as the Cybers, but nice just the same.

anyways, want to drop you a hello,
ciao,
johnny.

I bought this amp a few months ago and so far I've really enjoyed it. The only issue I've noticed is that the casing says it's the SE, but the presets and the effects are all from the original Cybertwin. The software version seems to be from the original Cybertwin.
The previous owner never realized this, he told me he had some problems with the amp a few years ago and sent it to fender to get fixed and they replaced the circuit board. My theory is they put the wrong software version on the amp when they did the repair.
Anyone know how I could get the correct software on the amp?
I've heard of the cyber commander software, I'm thinking about buying that but I'm not sure if it would help me or not.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There's no software, all the parameters are in the logic chip. You right, if they changed the main circuit board than the repair tech must have ordered and installed the wrong board. You would have to contact Fender and see if any of the CT-SE boards are still in stock.

As I posted before, I use the Cyber Commander software, it's a must have, if you have a CT. In fact I'll be using it again today. I finally took my CT to the guys who do all my amp repair at Abell Audio http://abellaudio.com/.

My CT fell over in the equipment van about five years ago, and the Data Wheel was slightly pushed in against the chassis. It still worked, but the presets would sometimes 'jump', so I quit using it at gigs, and only for recording.

So, I'm not sure if the guys had to replace the board, if they did, all my custom presets will be lost....but I 'backed' up all my custom presets using CC, and only have to 'Import' the presets back to 'Players Club' section via USB.

Honestly, I'm really excited about getting my CT back today, and using it at gigs.

Any idea of how I would be able to contact Fender?
I tried emailing their customer service department but got no response. I've looked for phone numbers too but I'm not sure calling would be a good idea because I figured most of the people working there would have no idea what I'm talking about, and I can't find any sort of number other than a regular marketing department number.

Yeah, baby, my Cyber-Twin was repaired! As I posted before, the data wheel was damaged a few years after falling over in the equipment van. My CT still worked, but the preset would 'jump' with any vibration, so I didn't use it gigs anymore. One reason I didn't get it repaired ASAP was that I was going though a nasty divorce, financially wise, and needed to save money.

The data wheel rotary knob only needed to be replaced, so all my custom presets were intact. Also, I just got a new video camera and wanted to test recording with it, so I setup my CT. Nothing fancy here, just improve while testing the camera and my CT.

Hey !
Long time no see
I just picked up an older CT version 1.2
Can't help but notice that with single coils a D cord sounds so brash and brittle
Noisy even !

I plug my Humbucker Strat I built into it and it sounds pretty good, i don't remember any other CT's that sounded that nasty, I'm trying to get a better response by using only the neck pickup and still sounds like I'm playing through a metal speaker.

Just how much do the 12Ax7's influence the tone of the CT ???

Thanks BB 8)

New Cyber Twin SE owner here. Traded an amp I wasn't using for it, so I have about 400$ in it.

WOW. I've been playing for over 20 years and I'm telling you this is a hidden gem. Yes it's partially solid state but have you heard Ty Tabor's tone from the late 80's? Speaking of that Fender has a preset called King Gretchen that nails it. This amp has everything; stereo, tons of amps, effects, ins and outs everywhere, and more. I usually hate modeling amps, I always felt like there was something missing from the Superchamp XD and X2 and I didn't think I'd ever get the same tone I get from the Blues Junior or Twin Reverb. Once you get past all of the "kiddy-effects" ; i.e. alien sounds, phased-out and over-flanged hair metal sounds this thing shows it's capabilities. Now, i've read on another forum that someone changed the stock 12ax7's to 12au7's and it took away some of the raspy highs.

What I can't seem to find is a site dedicated to trade user settings. I'm looking for an Andy Timmons tone, like the one used on Sgt. Pepper. That Lonestar and BB preamp with tape delay tone. I know about the CyberCommander software but that requires MIDI cables and a PC (i use a Mac). Does anyone have a good SRV setting?
