Hi all,

I bought a Cyber Twin modeling amp a while back and I'm looking to sell it. It's in perfect working order good condition except one or two bumps and scratches. It has the canvas cover, and the big MIDI footboard as well, so it's a decent setup.

What kind of price should I be chalking it up at? Do you think there's much demand for this gear in the second hand market?

Thanks so much :)

Hey all, looks like it slowed down here, but I just want to thank you all for the great info I got out of this thread.

I recently have gotten a CT 1.3 to test drive before a possible trade for my Bandmaster VM head and cabinet. I have that and a 1990 Fender Power Chorus (red knob). I thought I would use the BM more but I hate packing it around, plus I have intimate knowledge of the Power Chorus' soundscape, so it is very comfortable for me to use. (after using it constantly for over twenty years, It should be)

I had been comparing value between my Bandmaster and it seems they hold their value where the CT does not, so that concerns me. I saw the receipt for the CT and it's accompanying Foot Midi controller and it totalled over 2000 $ cdn when new, but I saw both those items for sale second hand for about 500 the other day. My bandmaster cost me about 1500, but that aside, I have really become a fan of the CT while playing with it this past week.
Do you guys think this is a decent trade? is there anything I should worry about quality-wise with the CT? (I know for sure that this one did not see alot of use)

Again, I want to ESPECIALLY thank you guys for the patches and relevant info on the CT!!

I think that you must ask yourself, what amp will I use more?

I think that's it right there, I have brought out the bandmaster perhaps a dozen times in 5 years. I use it at home, but I could semi-retire my power chorus and use that as my home amp. I would likely bring out the CT exclusively after setting it all up. Hmmm..

Well I have a jam/ practice session tomorrow to open it up. I think it's gunna sound great with some of the patches I have lined up. That will be the decider, me thinks.

Question on the CT

I was trying to get a decent wah sound with it but I can't seem to dial it in without it sounding vague. If I use touch wah it seems to create the amount of sweep I would like but with no control. Why can't I get the foot switch controlled wah to sound like that?
I don't think I saw any patches posted that focused on wah either. Any tips??

I use a Ernie Ball volume pedal similar to this one http://tinyurl.com/cw287wz as a 'wah'. I created a preset and tweaked the 'voicing' to get it sound like a 'real' wah.

Aha, so you wouldn't say the cyber foot controller pedal is not the way to go for wah then? Just can't get it nailed down, as a matter of fact I've never has a wah pedal that ever sounded how I want!

Duh, I didn't understand that you meant that you were using the Cyber controller pedal. You know that you can tweak the setting for the pedal?

Yeah, i just can't seem to get a good setting for it. I also have noticed a ton of noise associated with having the compressor enabled at all. I can't even use that feature at all without a lot of hum. Bummer.

I uploaded a track to YT that recorded using my '66 Jazzmaster and Cyber-Twin a couple of years ago. The backing track was created by another musician on one of the guitar forums, the 'steel drums' effect lead was created by me using the C36 'Harmonic Chimes' preset in the Cyber-Twin. I used my old BOSS BR-600 for recording.

So, 'still using the old original C-T bought used 6+ years ago; no issues beyond replacing tubes.

Why did the amp "fail" and leave the Fender catalogue?

Personal thought on strongly considering divestiture of the C-T is a couple models are used and many, never.

Having the "real thing" (tubes are organic, man) ('65 RI DR) feels increasingly preferable.

Any others encountered this; "modeling" or reconfiurable amps (or guitars or bassess) making you want the real deal?

Old amp, old thread. Long story short: I always wanted a Cyber Twin and just got one for dirt cheap at GC as a backup rig and to travel more lightly instead of always dragging around my half stack plus rack plus pedal boards.

And what can I say? I actually like it quite a bit and I'm glad that nobody wants amps like this at the moment. I find it to be a very under-rated and very useful amp/device. Just played my first little gig with it and miked it with a single SM57, master volume set to about 5 or 6. Sounded pretty good across all different sounds that I use, even the more high gain stuff that is so often criticized on these. Yes, it requires a lot of tweaking at first and getting used to the rather unusual terminology. Good clean sounds also and obviously good representation of the few original Fender tones that I like (Blackface mostly).

Even the basic effects section is more than usable for my needs, mostly delay and chorus. I could do without the spring reverb sounds and vibro stuff but that's obviously to be included in a Fender amp.

Does it make you want the real amps? Well, yes and no. I must admit the thought crossed my mind that a real Blackface amp for clean tones would be a nice-to-have. Certainly the 15" version is lovely. But all that defies the purpose of why I bought the Cyber Twin. After playing with it now for a couple of weeks I would say it's strength are not so much the supposed replications of real amps but how you can mix and match things just to get good tone often in rather unexpected ways. In fact, I'm already exploring A/B/Y boxes and Sennheiser mikes to integrate the CT into my big rig for the next opportunity where it makes sense setting up that much stuff.

Hey cyber twinners!

So I really like the ct, especially building off of a blackface circuit, but I want to try something but don't really know where to start.
I have a 1990 or 91 Fender Power Chorus twin amp. It is solid state, it is a "red knob" twin that always seems to get a bad rap, yet remains for me the best sounding and most responsive amp I own.
What I would like to do is recreate this amp in the cyber twin, but I don't know much about the construction of it. How do I find this out? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Well I now have a schematic for my power chorus but it doesn't help me to figure out anything about its construction that I can apply to the cyber twin.
Hmmmm

The CT has a Ultimate Chorus - A22 preset, this is where I would start creating a 'custom' Power Chorus preset. The UC preset uses a triangle chorus, you can change the chorus to match the Power Chorus, than set the amp settings on the CT to match the PC, and press the 'Save' button and store the preset in the 'Your Amps' section.
