Wow, great tone & playing. Since I've moved, I now can mic my CT, when I have time to record

Hello,
I don't remember where, but I seem to recall hearing that you weren't suposed to
plug in a guitar with active pickups into a Cyber Twin. I've search the manual and all over the net and can't find an answer. I have one guitar that came with EMG's and would just like to know if they are compatible. Appreciate any info.Thank you.

Another proud owner of a CT SE. Love it. Ready to go onstage in less than a minute.....great sounds, and great replication going into the main PA.

I've never read that! If you're using active PUPs, just adjust the guitar signal with the trim knob on the Cyber-Twin.

The same idea here, I got the strange feeling :) that even with active pickups you got a volume control, combine that with the trim on the CT and you should be fine.

A nice option to compare a tube amp to the CT.

I laid my hands on a 1984 Kitty Hawk the Kid combo. Of course I new it needed some work, like replacing all pots 8) But before opening here up and put my soldering iron in there, of course I had to record a little thing.
That was "Kitty knows". After that I started working on the little amp.
Still that song (Nobody knows when you're down and out) was something that just had to be finished. I ended up using my Cybertwin with the same settings I used last time, with only the gain pot a little lower.

Sure, sure, the lead was played on my Fender avri '62 on both amps
the backing is played with my Epiphone Dot and Tokai strat, both using the Cybertwin.

I still have to reconnect my midi, so I can post the settings for the CT here.

Now to make sure Cybie won't get jealous

Kitty sounds great, but still good old Cybie (from 1:29m on) is giving her a run for the money I think.

for kicks, we started to fool around with java. if we move cyber commander from c++ to java, it just might work for both windows and apple platforms. but we are just fooling around, so no promises & no commitments. in case anyone is wondering, there aren't enough sales, not even for a monk sworn to perpetual poverty. a serious effort would take about a year. can't say we are intereseted in putting in a year of our precious spare time and reap next to nothing. life's too short amigo.

ciao,
john.

Just wanted to stop in and say hello to all of my Cyber Twin friends. :)

I didn't read through to many of the posts, but is it confirmed or still just rumor that Fender is discontinuing the Cyber Twin? I see that the Mustang series is gaining quite a bit of ground, but honestly, I don't see the comparison.

Discontinued it is. Hopefully this 'community' stays around for a while, since I'll get my first CT/SE delivered tomorrow :)

That does raise a couple of questions though; the one I'm getting should be in good shape (I hope), but, it comes pretty bare bones; no footpedals etc. and now Fender says I can't even get the standard 4 button (or single, but, I've got a bunch of those around.) Somebody is selling new 4 buttons on Ebay, but, for about $80, which seems pretty excessive.

Are the buttons 'momentary' switches? That would seem to me to be the most reasonable assumption, since I assume you can't use multiple pre-sets at the same time. It seems like it should be pretty simple to mock up something with 4 momentary switches just to use those presets. For a *lot* less than $80.

The midi footboards do seem to show up once in a while on ebay, but, I'll probably just go with the Behringer, unless there's a reason not to.

One of the reasons (one of many) I finally jumped to the CT/SE was the SPDIF connection; I'm hoping I can use it with my M-Audio card to get a direct connection to my computer for recording. And, now I hear how that's less than satisfying :) Oh well, I do have the mixer/XLR option too, but, I was hoping to skip some noise. I've got a coax cord I've set up with RCA connectors, that should work with the 75 Ohm resistance, but, in other cases when I've used SPDIF I haven't had any problems using a standard RCA cable. Am I missing something?

Cyber Commander is on my wish list, once I get the amp and make sure it's actually working; sounds like a useful bit of code.

So, here's hoping that, discontinued or not, the Cyber Community sticks around.

Joe

The 4 button footpedal controls the 4 Quick Access presets. These would be your 4 "favorites". The buttons for Quick Access exist on the front of the amp numbered 1-4. The single switch footpedal is for the effects on/off. When using a pre-existing preset or if you create your own. Each one, if effects are added, can have the effects turned off with the footswitch.

Right, and thanks. If I'm reading right though, the 4 button uses a 5 pin DIN, which would suggest to me that it's a single ground and one pin for each preset. Most similar foot pedals for multiple purposes use an 'on/off switch' though, while I'm guessing that the cyber uses a 'momentary' that just connects one pin once to select the preset. I guess the question is, does the footswitch go 'click'? :) And then stay on or off. Wouldn't seem to make much sense.

It stays on...I have four custom presets selected and can switch between just by stepping on a button.

But, I did use a MIDI footswitch when I first got my CT. I'm not home but when I get back, I'll post what it's make.
