I posted this in a separate thread before I saw the Cyber-Twin users club thread. I'm a proud owner of the Cyber-Twin SE and it's been my main amp for the last couple of years. I love it!! I've used it at all kinds of gigs and on a bunch of my recordings as well.

So for all you Cyber-Twin SE owners out there. I just posted up a couple of my custom programmed presets in MIDI Sysex format for you to download and use on your Cyber-Twin SE if you're interested. I also put a couple soundclips of them for you to listen to.

Check them out here: http://livemusiciancentral.com/2008/12/ ... e-presets/

I would love to have both of your presets in text format. The ROAR is exactly what I've been looking for and the WARM RAIN is super tasty.

I know it is a pain but could you please post those two?

Hey Chronic, thanks for the compliments. I will post them in text format but I have to say that using MIDI Sysex is by far easier as the Cyber-Twin uses it natively and it works flawlessly. In an emergency situation at a gig, loading your entire bank of presets is a snap using MIDI Sysex data.

I have completed a tutorial complete with a free software download of Winjammer Shareware which has a fully functional Sysex Librarian you can use to manage your Cyber-Twin SE Presets. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Here's the link to the tutorial: http://livemusiciancentral.com/2008/12/ ... idi-sysex/

Thanks!
Matt

Hello Matt,

First thing is - Welcome to the Fender forums! :D

I know your post was directed at Chronic, and not me. But I tried it and thought I'd post my impressions. Now, please remember, you said "Please check it out and let me know what you think". So please don't get mad at me.

I downloaded, installed and followed your instructions. I will say it did work, however, it seemed tedious, at best, to me. It does provide a way to save and restore presets to your computer. And that is a positive thing.

While being free to download, it is actually a 30 day trial shareware program. From the info that came with the program, it said the cost to register the shareware after the 30 days was $50 US currency. Which, according to the info again, is the most basic WinJammer program. The one they call the Professional was $129.95 US + $10 shipping for an upgrade of the shareware, or $199.95 +$10.00 shipping for the full version.
So, it's only free if you decide to keep it without paying for it - if it still works after the 30 days. But even if it does - that still wouldn't be right, would it?

A better option, at least to me, is the (click on the links) Cyber Commander SE software from General Cyber Systems. And, this link is an overview of the Cyber Commander SE software.

I have the Cyber Commander SE software. It will also save and restore presets to and from the CT SE. And, additionally, it will let you edit the presets with your computer, and let you see right on the computer screen exactly what you're doing. It works in real time too, so, if you are playing, you can hear the change you just made on the screen.

With the CC SE (Cyber Commander SE) you can build and edit your whole players lounge, and save them to file or amp, or both. This means you can have several "players lounges" that can be loaded to your CT SE with just a very few clicks of the mouse.

In addition to saving restoring presets and whole players lounges, it gives you real time control over the entire amp, and, again, with just a few clicks of the mouse. No more endlessly scrolling through menus and twirling data knobs to reach one point you want to change - just click on the parameter on the screen.

While it does cost more that the Winjammer shareware registered version - $50 vs $79.95 for the CC SE - it is less that their upgrade ($139 total) or full ($209 total) versions. And it does SO MUCH MORE than the Winjammer program - or at least what I saw of it in your tutorial.

Also, it you want to share your presets, CC SE stores them in a format that makes to simple to paste in here on the forum.

Examples: (note these are not my presets, but belong to mvrush - Matt - and offered as a free download. I will take them out of this post if mvrush - Matt - wants me to do so.)(of course you could look at it as saving you some work too. :wink: )

Your ROAR! preset:

Code:
1  "LMC Roar        "    =Preset Name          ;
2  "British"             =Tone Stack           ;
3  "Post-Distortion"     =Tone Position        ;
4  "Standard Polarity"   =Speaker Phase        ;

2  "Blackface"           =Tone Stack           ;
3  "Pre-Distortion"      =Tone Position        ;

9  "Full Body"           =Timbre Type          ;
10 "Medium"              =Compressor Type      ;
11 "Low"                 =Noise Gate Type      ;

14  3.8                  =Treble Value         ;
15  6.9                  =Middle Value         ;
16  4.1                  =Bass Value           ;
17  4.6                  =Presence Value       ;
18  3.1                  =Reverb Value         ;
19 9.15                  =Delay Out Level      ;
20  325                  =Delay Time (ms)      ;
21 6.40                  =Chorus Depth         ;
22 1.92                  =Delay Feedback       ;
23 "0.98"                =Chorus Rate (Hz)     ;
24 RAMP                  =Dly/Time Change      ;
25 9.01                  =Reverb Input         ;
26 8.20                  =Reverb Tone          ;
27 5.48                  =Reverb Time          ;

30 ON                    =Noise Gate           ;
31 "Chorus Depth"        =Expression Pedal     ;
32 "FX Wet Out Level"    =Cont. Controller     ;

This "code" can then be copied into a txt program then loaded into CC SE, and then loaded into the CT SE. All of which can be done with a few mouse clicks.

If you would like to read some posts about the CC SE editor, there is a thread here, with some preset data in some of the posts: (note: the first page or two are about getting the GCS site up and running - the other pages get much more interesting)
It's at: Cyber-Twin SE pc editor

Let me know if you want me to remove your preset data from this post.

I like your Warm Rain. It fits my style! :wink:

Hey Rholloman, thanks for checking out the tutorial and I'm glad it was clear enough for somebody to follow. I always worry about stuff like that since I'm a guitarist and not a programmer or technical writer. Working with the Winjammer Sysex Librarian has been easy and intuitive for me. I did register the program way back in 1998 and have been using it as a sequencer as well. That being said, it is a defunct program and development of Winjammer stopped 11 years ago in 1997. The webpage to register it no longer exists and I have not tried calling the phone # or fax #. I did e-mail Winjammer support to see if they are still registering it and have not received a reply. The upside is, even if you can't register Winjammer, the Sysex Librarian feature never expires and you can use it as long as you want.

The main reason I used Winjammer in the tutorial is because that's what I use. But you can use any freeware Midi Sysex Librarian or any Sysex capable software like Sony Acid.

Looking at the Cyber SE Commander Sotware, it seems like a well written and fine piece of software. I especially like the realtime control you get editing patches from you computer. I give it my full endorsement for loading my presets on your Cyber-Twin SE! I could link to it from Live Musician Central but I need the Cyber SE Commander creators okay to do that.

Thank you for posting my presets in text format, I was really dreading having to write all that stuff down. Which is why I was singing the praises of MIDI Sysex data. As long as you give me a nod as the author of those presets it's cool. I would appreciate it if you could link to my preset download page so people could check out the sound samples of the presets I put up on my website. http://livemusiciancentral.com/fender-c ... downloads/

Thanks again rholloman! :)

You're very welcome mvrush, :D

Your tutorial instructions were well written, and I just followed them step by step.

If you like dealing with the sys ex - there is another program that is very small and he calls it "postcardware". According to what I read on his web site, just send him a postcard and he will send you back the registration. It's Bome's SendSX

Like the WinJammer program, you can't edit or do any of the many things that can be done with the Cyber Commander SE software, but you can send and receive sys ex data. It's designed to do one job, instead of many things.

I still prefer General Cyber Systems Cyber Commader SE. I use it every time I use my Cyber Twin SE now. (and that's almost every day, especially in this holiday season) Reason being, I can now control everything about the amp straight from the program in the computer - and with only a few mouse clicks. Also, somewhere I found out that the program by-passes some stuff in the Cyber Twin SE that is used when you use the big knob. Some things that could wear out if overused. The info probably came from John, the author of the CC SE program, and one of the owners of General Cyber Systems. He's a super nice guy. If you are interested in any of this, you can reach him at the Contact page on their site - plus he posts here at the Fender forum too. I suspect he's taking some time off for the holidays right now - but I don't know that for sure.

Anyway - I'm glad you weren't upset that I posted your presets.

Also, there are some other presets already posted by various people that sound pretty good, depending on your style and what you like. You might want to check some of them out too. :wink:

Happy Holidays

As always, any feedback is always welcome. But, wow, rholloman, many thanks for the complimentary review of Cyber Commander.

mvrush, yes you can link to www.generalcybersystems.com or refer to Cyber Commander anytime. Truth is we sure would appreciate any help getting the word out on Cyber Commander (we are small, very small, and need all the help we can get, but we do try hard, very hard).

Anyone else wishing to link to www.generalcybersystems.com or wanting to mention Cyber Commander is welcome to do so!!! Please download the manuals from our site, they fully describe the software and quite a lot of the Cyber Twin capabilities (the original manual is a little weak on this).

We sincerely believe Cyber Commander delivers on all the promises we made and we hope it serves you well.

Ciao,
Johnny.

It's well deserved Johnny! :D You did a great job with it. (2 thumbs up)

The promises sound like a lot - maybe even sound "to good to be true". But, in this case, the software actually delivers all that is promised. (I was so used to crappy software, that it was a surprise to me - a very good surprise!)

Of course, a person will not know that until they have used it for some time. Kind of like the CT SE - You have to put some time in using the amp to even start to see the potential.

Anyway - the Cyber Commander SE is a GREAT addition to the CT SE. To me, the instant control it gives over my amp has become more important than the editing and saving features of the program. Now that I've used it, I sure wouldn't want to be without it. So, to me, it is a "must have".

I would highly recommend it for any CT SE owner.

And it's not that the CT SE is lacking in any way. It's the best sounding amp I've ever had. It's also the best amp, quality wise - as far as I can tell, after these years of owning it - that I've ever had, or used. And I still haven't found, or heard of, anything that even comes close to what it actually is.

Hi Lucy,

And Welcome aboard!

The Cyber Twin has 5 basic amps: Blackface, Tweed, Hot Rod, "HMB", and Dyna Touch. HMB means "Her Majesty's Bassman", a long name for a "British sounding amp". You have to pick one of these amp types. These amp types come in there 3 categories, 1 being cleanest, 3 being dirtiest. So any choice of Blackface1, Tweed1, Hot Rod1, "HMB1", or Dyna Touch1 would be a starting point. The next thing is set the GAIN control to 3 or less (and compensate by turning the VOLUME right next to it to about 7 or so). Make sure Effects are NONE, Reverb dialed to zero or what ever you need, Timbre could be NONE, but Bright and Light is nice.

I really think Cyber Commander could help you. Please take a look at the manual, there's a lot of guidance in there even if you don't get Cyber Commander.

caio,
johnny.

I have the newer cybertwin se. It has loads more amp models than you mentioned. I think we're talking about two different amps. I need to know how to get a clean amp only sound from the se. Does the SE have it's own amp model or does it just model other amps? I want to try my pedals out with the se with no amp effects and no amp models if possible.

Hi Lucy,

Nope, I was referring to the SE. The only amp models there are the ones described above. The Tone Stack has nothing to do with drive, everything else is an effect. The only amp drive model i did not explicity mention is the "extreme" which is nothing more than the Dyna Touch heavily distorted.

Although the Cyber Twin SE is one the best amps ever created, the manual and the user interface on the amp are not too intuitive. I was confused for nearly a year, then decided to develop Cyber Commander out of frustration. Please take a look at the Cyber Commander SE manual, there is a lot of good material in there.

Ciao,
Johnny.
