OK, here's a one-year update since I got my CT. Great amp :) Certainly the most versatile I've had. One of my favorites over 40 years has been the early Twin Reverbs and it's fairly easy to get that out of the CT, and so much more. It's also *loud as hell*, even with one speaker disconnected, but, with some fiddling the line-outs have been usable over a mixer (Behringer Xenyx 1202FX) for PC recording without too much noise.

I was really impressed with Fender service who paid for the 1.3 upgrade from an authorized service center in Columbus with no quibbling at all. I've also got a bunch of oddball guitars, primarily a 2002 Gibson Blueshawk and a PRS SE semi-acoustic, but some others too and it's great being able to set up collections of sounds.

The Cyber Commander software is really handy there and does real-time changes; now to get it on to my laptop too and, I'm still in the market for a Cyber midi controller, which the Commander software natively programs.

I'm kind of interested in getting a CTSE somewhere along the line, but, no rush :)

I just spent a good 45 minutes with the headphones on and playing the CT SE
Sounds better than the speakers if you ask me.

Bass response is O.K. at best, either through the 2x12's or the headphones, cant get near the spank I would like to hear.

The SE makes it a lot more fun than the original, Wonder what some warm toned speakers with some heft behind them might do for the tone ????
The sound is just too brittle as it is.

If I keep it I'll try a few blues jams and see what kind of reaction I get from fellow players.

I've posted about this before, the V1.3 was a hardware and faulty logic chip replacement.

A few of the first shipment of the original CT, had faulty logic chips that causes presets to 'jump' or have the amp to 'freeze', plus some amps developed tube rattle due to any bumps to the CT.

The solution was to have a new logic chip, and a 'strengthening bar' that went across the back of the chassis. If the CT doesn't freeze or have tube rattle, than no fix is needed.

I brought the first CT in Columbus and after about 15 gigs the amp started acting 'strange'. I contacted Fender and was told that a few amps were having problems and they explained why. They than overnight shipped the parts to the dudes that do my amp work, Abell Audio http://www.abellaudio.com/.

Since we had gigs coming up, Abell went to work on my amp as soon as the parts arrived. That was 10ys ago, and hundreds of gigs, and I hadn't had any problems with my CT, until it was knocked over.

I didn't think the CT's had software with them.

That's correct, the DVD that came with CT contained a movie about the making of the CT. A couple of years back, Brad had the entire movie loaded on YT at this link http://youtu.be/Nz9vbi57xOg.

No, there wasn't any software, I still have my original DVD and packaging. I know that people have posted that the CT is a 'modeling' amp and it's not. Line 6 owns the 'modeling amp' term, and the CT uses emulation, where the internal circuitry changes.

Just as a question, have you tried changing the speaker phase? For my uses it's not important, but, it wouldn't surprise me if it made some real world difference.

I can't really say whether the upgrade was 'important'. I got the amp and called a fender authorized repair center and they agreed to upgrade it for nothing (after checking with Fender) and it included some of the obvious things like the PROM chip but also the stabilizing of the tubes and replacements tubes (which weren't bad anyway, but nice to have spares)

This is all on an amp that is long out of warranty, so, I was thrilled with the service. They also sold me one of the missing knobs for something under $2.

I tend to agree with people preferring 'real' tube amps; my favorite at the moment is a Peavey Valveking 112, but, with a little tweaking of things like chorus effects etc. you can really fatten up tone. And the ability to switch between settings is phenomenal. If you *like* sterile, you can get it :) The rest is tweaking.

At this point I can not say if there were different packaging according to the Fender's distribution zones, what could be an explanation, I'll dig into the topic ..
I have had contact with CT's owners in Germany who had the cd software.
For after that I realized it was only a PC interface, such as Easy CyberTwin for Mac or Cyber Commander but less elaborate.
Actually you're right about the CT as a modeling amp is a language shortcut but the electronic architecture brings the thing in its proper perspective.

The Cyber Commander software is really handy..

Fender France is paying no attention for it's owners.
According to an authorized local agent Fender France on CT or SE have been discontinued for units and parts as well, where things seem to be different in the U.S.
The authorized service center in Columbus has a web address?
The easiest should be to bring the parts and to assemble on site.

CC is universally recognized, I'll get it soon..

Here is a live recording of a song I wrote and the band played at the Granville Blues Fest http://youtu.be/qEWKJab0pGI.

I used my Cyber-Twin and my '88 AmStd Strat. The song is kind of long because I'm wireless, I go out in the crowd and play to women. All the volume swells are done with my pinkie finger using the volume knob, while I'm walking and playing.

The recording was done using my Sony Mini-disc recorder with a pair of Core Sound stereo mics http://www.core-sound.com/default.php.
