So what happened ??? I know there was a love hate thing with these amps but.......

Cyber Twin SE models selling for under 500 ! WOW !!

I'm tempted to get one just for fun, I never owned the SE version but I tried three combos and one head and cab.
I could never get the full body sound I got from my DRRI or other all tube circuits from the CT's however they can be a lot of fun if you want say an easy stab at 80's rock and a few other loud sounds.

The Mustangs are filling pawn shops faster than any other "latest Greatest" amp i've ever seen, so what are the modeling guys buying these days ?

I can pick one up (a CT SE) today with cover two footswitches all other swag for 450 cash and I'm afraid its a bad investment, why are they ugly step child ???
Are they falling apart like someone hit the self destruct button ???

Well, I absolutely love mine, and still play it at home. I just recorded with it over weekend.

As I posted before, the only reason I don't use at gigs anymore is because the Data Wheel was slightly pushed in after the amp fell over in our equipment van and the presets will sometimes jump in order, not while playing, just spinning the dial.

I would have brought a SE, but really didn't need one since I had created custom presets in my CT.

But, I also like my Mustang I, it shares the same DNA as the CT. I recently used it at rehearsal session (I ran a patch cord from the Line-out on the Mustang, to their PA head), and those guys were amazed at the tonal colors I was able to achieve (I didn't join their band).

I use the Mustang when recording to my PC, and while playing along with live concerts on DVD.

I get it, really I do, they are fine for what they are and fun to mess with too.
Whats wierd is the price crash on them, not very long ago SE models were still 800 bucks
the last one sold on e-bay for 600 with free shipping.

So for about 525.00 for an SE, thats what I was wondering about.
I hadn't heard of any major meltdowns online, not like some models that seem to fall apart as if a timer went off and dozens of failures were reported at one time.

Well I'm going to pick up this one and hope for a little fun and a return on my investment at some point.

I hear ya, however the one i'm after is only 450 so......
Kind of a no brainer.

Still I wonder if they will go down the path of say most peavey stuff and not be able to retain any of its original value over the next few years.

They are soooooo Much better than any of the other modelers I've tried, way !!!! Better!

If you're buying it as an investment, than I wouldn't. If the prices are down this much now, they should continue to drop. But if you're buying to really use it, than it has great value IMO.

I missed gigin' with mine, and now I'm to have it repaired. I have a (slightly) modded '63 Vibroverb RI that I use with a BOSS ME-20. This combo sounds great, but I do miss all the tonal colors I have in my CT.

My son lives on the island of St. Croix in the Virgin Islands doing ministry work, he will be back in August and really digs the CT series.
If nothing else he will have a easy move about gig worthy amp.

I don't think he will want to haul around my Bassman or Bandmaster and cabs 8)

I have a mini van so I don't mind hauling the big boys !

I had a blonde '63 Bandmaster head/cab that I used back in the '80s. I recorded all of Snapper Mitchum's 'Born In The Ghetto' with it, and used when we backed Lefty Dizz (You can see it in the screenshot from the Chicago Blues Fest gig video behind me).

Well i got the SE and have been messing with it for a day and a half so far.

First conclusion, they did some vast improvements over the original !
The overdrive effect, the fuzz effect and somehow even the overall tone of the amp seems improved.

Second thought, its still a digital wannabee, can't touch the tone of my blackface or silverface, sorry it still sounds digital at its core.

Getting some david Gilmour sounds is sooooo easy and fun !!!
A simple overdriven tube amp sound, well its just not there yet.
Could you get away with it live ? sure most people would never hear the difference.
I would !

For the price of a couple good pedals I got myself a fun amp to play out my eighties hair band fantacy
Or some great British Mind Trip Rock 8)

I didn't think the CT's had software with them.
I got the giant users manual (book)
The top cover with all the settings.
It is like new in condition a great deal at 450, even a tube amp snob like myself can enjoy a well designed modeler and this one is very well designed at least as far as availability of usable sounds.
It remains to be seen just how long it will last, will there be guys playing these in 45 years like my bassman and Bandmaster ??? Kinda doubt it.

450$ is really a gooood deal !
yep, there were a cd original from Fender, missed with my CT (looking for it).
I have a V 1.2 in perfect condition since few.
I asked Fender France for an upgrade kit to V1.3 and a little hardware included but they have nothing more about CT or SE. In fact they drop it.
But the more I use and discover it, the more I like it. Amazing sounds and versatility, sounding good in any selection.. what ask more !
Will it become a collector ? hmmm.. why not ?
there were not so many on the market place and it is surely one of the best DSP produced by Fender.

Yes it blows away other modeling amps out there !

Why not collectable? Nothing lasts forever , but the old Turret board Tube amps come close, this technology won't hold up to the test of time, its too fragile and now that fender dropped it, where will you get parts in ten years ???

The reason parts are still available for the old tube amps is that They are still superior to anything made today and those same parts were used in TV's Radios's PA's etc........

Any way I didn't buy it thinking about twenty years from now, i bought it to either flip or give to my 20 year old kid for his band.
