I really appreciate what the SE offers, its unique and great sounding tone, the infinite variability, and the fact that this one works outstandingly well with one of my guitars.

Fans of the Cyber Twins, maybe it's time to unite and give Fender a lot good feedback. I don't think we've done enough of that.

Actually, I hope someone within Fender at a high level, like a VP, adopt the Cyber Twin and become its champion. The Cyber Twins deserve to have a product champion, they are the greatest modern-amp technical innovation Fender has ever produced. Don't let Bill Schultz's legacy fade.

ciao,
johnny.

I may have posted this earlier, however i picked up another original CT on craigs list a while back.

Resale on these has fallen off to about 25% of original value (I paid $370.00) and the guy delivered it from Chicago (about an hour drive).

I think $500 is the going e-bay price

It is a shame that fender never really offered us much in the line of tweakablilty or online upgrades, they should have taken a lesson from the video game folks.

Still a very usable, giggable and fun amp to play through, glad I snatched another up, my only fear is who in the world could fix it if it went bad ???
way above my technical level.

I still have my original ver 1.3 CT and still love it!

I recently recorded a original track using the my CT. I recorded the rhythm guitar tracks with my Cyber-Twin and '66 Jazzmaster into a BOSS BR-800. I recorded the bass guitar using my Squier P-Bass D/I into the BR-800, the drums were arranged using the BR-800 by me.

The lead guitar was recorded using my '98 AmStd Strat into the Mustang I with the Steve Vai preset D/I into the BOSS BR-800...http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10381510.

Hey Tony.
Good to see your still hanging around here, been a while.
Still hanging with the CT too.
Your thread is still alive my friend.
I think my love/hate relationship with CT's has come to an end, I have the fourth CT now and stopped selling on e-bay so, looks like this one has a home.

I've had my CT for about 10 years now & that's how I describe it - a love/hate relationship.
My CT still has a home beside my tube amp.
What ended your love/hate relationship ?
Something different about your 4th one ? Something else ?
A week ago I re-posted 8 of my "clean" pre-sets in this forum.
Got anything you'd like to share?

The reason this one stays is that I gave up trying to get everything i need from one box and accept the CT for what it is.

Its a ton of fun and gives me a broad pallet of sounds from which to create my music, it is not and will never be as lively or responsive as my tube rectified, hand wired, point to point all tube circuit, with alnico speaker. NEVER !!!!

Now that I've come to terms with the beast, it gets a fair amount of use, I will carry it with me this summer when I go to jam.

I have accepted the fact that in a live situation it will get the job done without taking risks with expensive and somewhat fragile tube gear.

Getting rid of the cheap 12AX7's the day I brought it home made a HUGE !!! difference in the sound too, i put in the Tung-Sol 12AX7 RI tubes.

So glad to see conversation still on the cyber-twin. I have an original (bought at a Greg Koch demo) and a cyber-champ. Have that love-hate relationship with them... mainly vanity. Just grew up with traditional tube amps, so it's unusual to have an amp behind me with more than a jewel light. But I confess that Fender nailed their traditional amp sounds. I use the tweed deluxe, vibrolux, bassman, and twin reverb settings mostly and think they are spot on.

Is anyone using a Behringer foot controller? Any cons to it?

Hope to be a regular contributor here. Look forward to the conversation.

Welcome to the forum.

Have you found any secret tones on your CT that you want to share ???

Having had the luxury of setting my 59 bassman ltd, a few drri's and many other Fender tube amps right next to a CT and A/B them I will say after extensive tweaking you can copy the sound of a true tube amp, what you can't do is get the feel or overall livelyness of a tube amp from a CT.

That being said, they give back in ways a tube amp can't so it is a bit of a trade off, most people won't notice any difference any way.

Its like the tube amp is soup made from fresh garden veggies and fresh meat and the CT is made from artificial flavoring and frozen meat, similar but not the same.

Over the past ten years of gigging with my CT, I've won over many 'tube snubs' who couldn't believe that I was playing thru a CT.

Once at a gig we played in Delaware OH, this dude, who was sitting at the back of the venue, came up to the front and was sitting near my CT. During the break, he asked if I could spare a few minutes to talk with him about my equipment. He was really intrigued by the fact that he was hearing all these different aural tonal color, and only saw one guitar amp.

He remarked that on song that it sounded like I was playing thru his '65 Deluxe Reverb, and on another song it sounded like I was playing with his '68 BF Fender Princeton Reverb. Than I explained to him about how the CT worked, this really blew his mind!

While talking to him, I learnt that he was the guitarist in the premiere '70s party band 'The Slugs', I saw these guys many times in the '70s. He still had all his amps.

Below is a link to a live recording at the Granville Blues Fest, I used my CT and my stock '88 AmStd Strat http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=7673626&q=hi.

So true Tony.
However hearing tone is a fleeting memory and so its hard to "remember sound"
Place that CT next to the real deal and you will indeed hear the difference.

Again the CT is a great sounding amp, for what it is, but it can't give you the range of tone a pair of glowing power tubes can.

Lets face it, if it were fender would not have canned the project, and there would be no need for tubes any more.

The vast majority of pro players are not willing to give up the dynamic sound of a tube amp.

The CT is the best of the mostly Solid State amps out there and yet it still can't replace the tube amp, if it works as an all and all for you guys then more power to ya, It can't come close to the sound of my tweed deluxe, and I'll stand by that !

I got my ct se the 1st year they were made. And I've never been sorry that I got it.
Like others have said, it sounds like many other amps. The important thing to me is, it sounds GOOD!
It's good to hear Mr Tony Houston's recordings and that his ct is being put to good use. Good luck to you thouston!
To me, it's this way - if you think a tube amp sounds better, then get yourself a tube amp. But if you are willing to listen to a ct and if you can then admit that it sounds good, then maybe you can see/hear that something other than a tube amp can make good music too. You know, the musician does count too when it comes to making music - or so I've been told. ;)

Good comparison! I've been mostly only using the stock amps and adding effects and not trying to create anything new. The possibilities are limitless though.

I've always been impressed with the amp, especially its ability to approximate at lower volumes.

This is all it boils down to; everyone is different, and has different tastes.

And I must admit that I use my ’63 Vibroverb RI with a BOSS ME-20 for live gigs now. The data wheel on my CT was smashed in during loading at a show about 4yrs ago, and sometimes the presets will change, all by themselves. Plus we were recording our second CD and I used the CT for recording and would leave it at the recording space.

But I understand Fender decision to discontinue the CT because of the development of the Mustang amps and their FUSE software. My SO brought me a Mustang I for my birthday, I planned to use it just as a practice amp, but, I found that it’s much more than that.

Or if your like me and enjoy both, get both.

Seriously guys I do enjoy the CT's its fun, sounds great and very dependable from the few complaints I've heard, Compare that to the complaints you read about the Hot Rod series of tube amps, I hope the latest generation got that mess fixed !

I guess if you have to label me then "Tube Snob" works for me, I do so enjoy the tone of a nice Tube amp.

Hey I like Strats too "strat Snob"

I like Fried Fish "fried Fish Snob" I do like blackened Tuna too so..........

Be nice !!!!!!!

Some folks just want to fight, lifes to short for all that, Peace, try it you'll like it.
