Lets be honest about this amp. It is a mid priced All tube amp made in mexico. Fender saw a niche they could fill and they filled it. Thats how they stay in business. Its not a twin, super or deluxe and it never will be. I wish I still had the peavey I traded in on it. Spend the bucks and get a DR Z or a Victoria. you will get the tone and you wont have any problems.

The tone isn't the problem, reliability is. This amp is not a $250 Champ amp. It's retails for around 700 bucks. If you get a so called Limited Edition, you get some cosmetics and a little better speaker and the same unreliable design for more money. My 1974 SF Champ is a 6 watt practice amp that has never been in the shop. I paid $150 for it used and I still record and practice through it. Still sounds incredible.

There's nothing wrong with filling a niche, but don't sell people a poorly designed product and expect them to gig with it. Fender used to be all about quality at affordable prices.

Well,

I'm trading it in on the Deluxe Reverb this saturday. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. It was the amp I was going to get but my brother talked me out of it. I'm hoping I get better luck.

I didn't have any delusions on this amp. It's just I didn't realize how awful it was going to turn out. I'm not too hung up on how much stuff costs, or the 'snob' factor. I've gigged with Peavey, Yamaha, non-brand name stuff all of my life and never felt badly about it. I wasn't buying it because it's a Fender product - infact, every single Fender product I've owned, my family has owned, or friends have owned has had to go in for surgery. That being said I've heard nothing but good things about the Deluxe Reverb.

Thanks guys,
Andy.

Andy, I don't think you'll be sorry. I'm the same way, I even play a 57 Dano U1 that my friend found in the trash! It's real ugly I call it Max Mojo. If it sounds decent I'll play it.
Good luck with the Deluxe Reverb. It sounds great when you crank it.

Wow! They must have changed the manufacturing process of the tube pc board from the previous Blues Deluxe edition made in USA. The power tube sockets on my Blues Deluxe have extensions that are soldered to the pc board and extend down to the chassis where the actual sockets are mounted. That's wild that they would mount power tube sockets on the pc board. The preamp tubes are pc board mounted though.

Exactly, that's where the problem is. The socket's standoffs aren't that strong and the the extensions are only about an inch or so long and can't dissipate enough heat. If you wiggle the power tubes, you can see the pcb flex. The power tube sockets are not solidly connected to the chassis. This was how my amp tech found my problem. He re-soldered all the power tube connections replaced the power resistors and a couple of caps. Later on I had a problem with the pre amp tube sockets too.

I bought the Fender Deluxe Reverb. Played it this morning at church...

It sounds 100% better then my HRDX. It just has like a sweeter sound to it. obviously the speaker and tubes need to soften a bit, but the clean is just unbelievably good sounding. I've got 30 days so if I need to return it I can. I'm really happy with it. I should have just bought it in the first place.

I had a marshall plexi so I'm kind'a always dissapointed in a raging distortion sound in any other amp - but this does a pretty cool bluesy breakup. It's too loud to crank the snot out of though - for the joints I play. I should probably pick up a nice o/d pedal someday. I'm more of a twanger though.

Take care... I'll report back in a couple days if any issues arise. The reverb and tremolo are really great. I don't miss the O/D channel at all.
