Hi, my Frontman 15R have the head phone ouput jack brocken and I would like to replace it (to save my marriage  ).

The point is that I'm not able to pull out the printed circuit because I don't know how to dismount the amp and I afraid some thing will be broken.

In the other hand, if I bring the amp to a technical service could be more expensive than buy a new one.

Could some one provide me the steps I have to follow, please?

Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Are you still looking for information on removing the P/C board on this unit? I just purchased 25 of these and will be gutting a few of them to build a few storage boxes for my accessories that have been stored in the back of my regular amp. If you still need the info I would be happy to pass it along when I pick the amps up. Because I am not going to be using all of the amps and amps per se, I don't care if something gets broken while removal. Let me break mine rather than you breaking yours.

I'll tear one down tonight and post tomorrow evening. The 15G model is real easy to dissassemble. The R should be easy too. Bob

Okay, here it is. Real easy even though it will sound lenghty.

Remove the screws from the back cover. Remove the cover. The power wires are plugged in place on mine. Remember where they go, one black, one white and one green. They MUST go back where they came from. If the green is soldered in place, and some are, unsolder it for removal. Disconnect the reverb and the speaker wires making sure you note the location of these wires. Polarity is important. On the sides of the amp and forward remove the 2 screws that are about 8 inches up. One on each side and probably black in colour. Now from the inside, there are 2 screws that hold the speaker wooden frame to the lower part of the amp. Remove these. Now, from the back push the speaker and wooden frame towards the front and it will pivot forward top first. Lift the speaker out of the front of the amp. Now, remover the screws holding the handle in place. These hold the amp chassis in place so keep a hand under the chassis to catch it. Once free remove it through the front opening.

Now we move to the chassis. Remove all of the knobs and nuts under the knobs holding the switches to the chassis. Remove the screw at the AUX input. Remove the nuts at the input and headphones jack. Unplug the 4 wires at the power switch and make sure that you mark where they go. This is important. They must return to the same pins when reinstalled. Unplug the yellow and red wires and plug from the transformer at the chassis. There may be a tywrap on the speaker wires to this transformer wiring. Clip it. Now, flip the chassis over and remove the 2 screws that hold the heat sink/chassis mount to the main chassis frame. The P/C board should now be free of the metal chassis. Unsolder the headphone jack. Looks like 8 or 9 solder joints. Go slowley and move the jack a little at a time until it is removed totally. Now reinstall the new jack and reassemble in revers order. Let me know if you have any troubles.

I know it looks tough but it takes about 5 minutes to compleately tear it down. I have 30 of these and the 15G models and have torn a number of them down for repairs. It goes quickly. Good luck. Bob

Bob,

Thanks a lot, you help was invaluable. Following your steps was quite easy dismount and mount the amp. Now it work fine.

The part most complicated was to find the jack in Madrid because no body sell this kind of product. Finally I've found a guy that got it in Germany.

If you someday went Madrid, I'll invite you a beer :D

No, unfortunately I didn't get any 212R's. I did try to obtain 5 of them but didn't swing the deal. I actually have 30 amps instead of the 25. Most are 15G's and a few ended up being 15R's. I also ended up with a 25R and one of those very small amps Fender makes. I think it is a 10 something. as well as a FM15R DSP. I think that is all I got but really haven't inventoried the entire lot. Some needed repairs and some worked as is. All were new and look like warrantee returns. I actually plan on gutting a number of them and installing a door on the back side and a plate where the controles were. This will make a great storage box for those accessories all us guitar players seem to collect. Sorry, but if I am able to get a 212 of some kind I will let you know. I really want one for myself too. That or something larger than I presently use. I am presently using an Automatic GT. I love it but just WANT a larger unit. I'll probably never get much use out of it as the Automatic GT is perfect for practicing, which is really all I do these days.

75!!!? And I thought I was nutz for buying 30. Could make a real interesting lunch box though. I bet you got them from the same guys in South El Monte. Nice guys there. Too bad one of us didn't get the 212R's they offered. Anyway, have fun with them. WOW!! 75, you are a glutton for punishment. My wife is not pleased with what I have, I can only imagine what yours said... LOL...
