I know someone who's going to college this year.
He has a Fender Twin 100 watt with the 1/4 power switch.
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Twin ... 1145377.gc
He wants to trade for my Vox AC15CC.
He wants a smaller amp for the dorm.

Now I've posted in other forums and recieved mainly negative reviews, but reading other reviewsthey were mostly favorable.

I would like to know what the experts here think.

I like the fact that I can keep it at 25watts and the fact that it's a Twin.

Any suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It's a good amp, clean channel is best, but I hope you are big and strong.

Johnny.

The fact that is has casters on it will help quite a bit.
I just don't understand all the negative responses I got from the other forums.
Do you own one?
Thanks

I just recently got rid of mine because I'm an older man and it is heavy. If it's in good shape it is a amp that will last you a life time. I sold mine because of the weight and if you want to get to the point of where you get the tubes starting to break sound it has to be turned up almost all of the way. That is a very loud amp and a very clean sounding amp. Just a matter of what your looking for, it cost nearly twice the price of the one you'd be trading. It is your decision and what sound you want, but they are wonderful amps! 8)

Real heavy amp. I have a 76 SF. I have no experience with the newer Twins.
If you have a use for that much power, go for it. If you only need 25 watts, I'd look at a Deluxe Reverb Reissue It's close enough. of 70's Silverface.

Yes, i used to own one. It was a very nice clean amp. I never liked the "dirt" channels much. It was also very heavy, you will bang walls including the ones in your home.

I now use Cyber Twins. These are very, very good amps, much more versatile than the Twin. To my ear, the Cyber Twins sound better - but you have to set them up properly. The Cyber Twin dirt is better sounding (to me) than the Twin's dirt.

For the money, I would go with the Cyber Twin SE unless you really want to have a tube amp.

Ciao,
Johnny.

How did you like the 25w setting?
Right now I'm leaning towards keeping my Vox.

That's the other thing.
I would probably keep it at the 25W setting.
Even gigging it, 100 w would be just too much.
I'm starting to think I'd better keep what I have.
It's going to be very tough for that amp to beat my 1964 Princeton Reverb.

I love the Cyber Twins.
Those are great amps.

Stick with what you have. Some folks like the Cyber Twins, some don't.
I don't, I had one for a week and got rid of it. I guess I'm just too old school.
I really did try to like it.

I would encourage you to break the mould. If your are going to learn and grow, get out of your comfort zone and push the boundaries as hard as you can push them - you live only once. But that may not be everyone's cup of tea. If it is, push the boundary and i am not kidding about the you live only once.

That's what the CT did for me - I have used 3 SE's in a venue, all set up a little different with delay and echo. I controlled all with the foot controller and did my sets. We played "surf" a-la Dick Dale. I would say we impressed a few people, including some seasoned musicians - it was the 3-D sound... yep, i would say i pushed the boundaries some.

Ciao,
john.

I own one and love it! If you read the manual, you can take out the center two 6L6 tubes and set the bias from 16 to 8 ohms. Then with a volt meter, you can re-bias the amp to 40mv and set the tube balance adjustment to 0. NOW..... the amp is 60 watts in the high power position and 15 watts in the low power position. So now you have an amp that can be 15 to 100 watts when needed. In the 15 watt position cranked on the clean or "vintage" channel sounds awesome for blues or slight overdrive kicked in. If you play metal.........you will need a pedal. I LOVE MINE NOW!!!!!!!! When I play on big stages or outdoors.......I simply put the othe two tubes back in and set to high power 100 watts. Sounds great!

Set the "OHM" switch to 8ohms not the bias. Also you can set the reverb to channel 1,2 or both.........AND the effects loop from shannel 1,2 or both.........AND your floor pedal goes from clean to overdrive to channel 2 to reverb on or off. This is a VERY VERSITILE Fender amp! I love mine!
