i own a blues reissue deluxe, and i've had it for less than a year which makes me question whether the problem is the tubes or not. whenever i turn the volume past about 3 (on the clean channel), it gets incredibly distorted and sounds terrible. also even on lower volumes, the sound quality is way lower than it was when i bought it. ive had the amp maybe about half a year. also, i dont know anything about changing tubes or anything if thats the case, so i'd really appreciate any advice. thanks!

Yeah it sounds possible that one or more of the tubes may have went bad. In my blues jr. I kinda had the same problem at one time and it turned out the that one one of the tubes in the preamp section had went bad. But, yeah I would definitely check the tubes first. It doesn't always happen, but sometimes them tubes don't hold out as long as they should.

Without a tube tester all you can do is either swap the preamp tubes around to see if it has any effect on the amp, or buy a new 12ax7 and try it in the different pre-amp positions.

If you take it in hopefully the tech a the guitar shop has a tester.
Pre-amp tubes (the 12ax7) can be swapped individually
The power tubes (6L6) need to be done in pairs, and possibly biased.

It is always good to have some spare tubes around.

Tube testers occasionally available for sale but they are expensive.

It may also need biasing.
