I'm looking at buying a bass guitar. I have a Fender Super Champ XD amp already, and was wondering if I would need to buy a Bass amp. Would a Bass still sound good through my Guitar amp, and would it do any damage to the amp or anything like that? Thanks for your help.

Speakers in guitar amps these days are not usually made to work with a bass guitar. The low frequency notes would likly damage it.

As Randy1 says, the speaker isn't designed to handle low frequencies, particularly not at any volume. The internal circuitry isn't either, so the end result is going to be poor sound and the risk of blowing the speaker. Doing it once or twice at low volume isn't likely to kill anything, but given the number of inexpensive small bass amps around, I'd suggest that route.

yes, to keep your guitar amp working, do not use it with a bass

Thanks for all your help. I'll probably just end up buying a small bass amp, I don't really want to wreck my Super Champ!

I used to play my bass through my crate 15 watt guitar amp and it sounded fine but then when I played my guitar through it it had no high end and sounded terrible the best prevention to this problem is to just get a bass amp.
