OK all you smart guys. I have seen you talk up your Blues Jrs to the point where I am seriously considering one. There is one available in a town close by for $325 - but he has replaced the speaker with a Celestion Greenback.

Question 1. I have no experience with that speaker. Is it a good match for a Blues Jr? Since I have to drive 60 miles to listen to it, is it worth the effort?
Question 2. I get the impression that this is a MIA model. My research indicates that there may be some issues with noise associated with the reverb. Can anyone confirm/refute that? Is it an issue?

I don't know the ansers to your questions, but I do know this;

If my Blues Junior was stolen, and the house insurance paid out the money, another blues Junior would be the only amp I'd consider replacing it with.

That is a great price for the amp, mine was double that :( Worth every penny though, I still get blown away with this thing. Let us know how it goes TC, good luck.

Hi Troublecall, I bought my stock tolex brand new Blues Junior about six weeks ago and it is a real wonder. No mods in sight yet, just noodling with the knobs and experimenting. You can't go wrong with a BJ, it is certainly not everyone's cup of tea but i would think that in 2025 a lot of people would sell their parents to own a collectible like this. Make the right choice for you and good luck.

Cheers.

I'm with you! I think this could be a collectible little amp one day! I know I'm never getting rid of mine. One of my kids will probably use it one day and forget to bring it home as they have other things. Oh well, that's the great thing about being a father! :wink:

Thanks for the input and help everyone. I have a SuperChamp XD and I love it, but I have listened to a Blues Junior as well and it has a really nice sound also.
And all of you are always talking nice about the Blues Jr...

Hello Troublecall,

Blues Jr. is one great amp I've played them for years
and finally bought a NOS one about a year ago.

As for $325 for amp with speaker replacement
I'll pass on that, and save the gas money. Buy a new one then
you won't have any reverb noise issues or tube issues
or solder joint lettin loose and you'll have a guarantee.

Who can say what conditions this has been played under.
Maybe it sat in the players parlor and never moved {like mine}
or maybe he played the hell out of it and blew the speaker.
I'd give him $200, they are making these things every day
by the hundreds no need to buy into implied used value.

They go on sale a lot and you can get em shipped to
you for about $450.

Best of luck

Cheers.
