hey,

ok im using a mexi strat through a fender super champ xd, i love the cleans and effects and over all sound. But i want more of the Clean Boost rather then the Built in Distortion. Im wondering want overdrive to get. im thinking of getting a TS808 / Maxon OD808 / Fulltone OCD or the Carl Martin Plexitone i want the SRV Style Clean Boost but also have that Dirty Plexi Tone too. Is it possible with one pedal? right now im using a Boss OD-1 and a Dunlop Wah but the OD-1 is too Fuzzy distortion and not what im looking for... any help?

I use a Fulltone Fulldrive Mosfet and I love it. It is the best overdrive I've found by far. I also have a TS-9DX(it has the regular TS-9 circuit plus 3 modes of clean boost). The TS-9 is too fuzzy for me when you turn up the drive. With the drive(gain) set very low it's ok. The Fulltone Fulldrive has a separate boost switch for leads that is very cool. I've always heard that the Fulltone OCD is awesome too. I recommend the Fulldrive Mosfet because of the boost function. If you could try one out somewhere you'll see what I mean. I've had alot of my friends play through it they say that my rig has the best tone they've ever heard!

Hi...I'm New to the forum but I have the same amp and a similar situation.

For bedroom practicing the super champ XD is great for what it is.

There were three things I didn't like about the amp.

#1 it shares the same EQ, so you might geta great clean but a so-so dirty, or vise versa.

#2 I noticed a little lag time when you engage the optional footswitch when you switch between channels.

#3 I'd give up the 16-tranister distortion voicing, for one god tube driven overdrive.

So anyway I was in my local guitar center and picked up this Blackstar "Tube Driven" Overdrive. HT-DIST has great drive sounds and I'm sure you could back the drive off to at a Stevie ray like bighty clean. The other cool thing is that its own bass, middle, trebble controls and a knob marked IFS...that turned to the left gives you more an american made drive, or to the right a more british style amp drive.

Sells for around $150.00

Give it a try if you have a GC in your area!

I would suggest going to a GC or other music store and (the same thing you do with a guitar) try them out before you buy.

People have very different ideas of what they like for distortion. I have a Rat and a Tube Screamer. But what I like other people won't. So try them until you find one you like.
