I don't understand why you guys continue to use linear taper volume pots for volume controls in your amps. The dissatisfaction you are causing among your customers with electronic savvy is far greater than you can imagine.

I know I have bought my last Fender amp knowing that the first thing I have to do is open it up and replace the volume pot.

There are many great amps out there and I do have a choice.

Being that I almost exclusively play modern Praise and Worship this is an issue for me as well. Volume controll is essental with my playing enviorment. Having a big JUMP in volume right off the bottom due to the linear taper pot rather than the smoother rise an audio taper would give me makes it hard to tweek on the fly without killing the crowd  . T'would be a blessing to see this minor design change be made  !!

Doesn't resolve the issue of the volume pot being too finicky,

But you can get around the issue by using a volume pedal either in line with the guitar or in the effects loop instead of modding the amp.

Course I don't mind killing the crowd with volume (that's why amps go to 11!, so not really bothered by this feature :)

Actually it will resolve that issue......it will spread out the volume over the entire range of the pot, or close.

Yes it will. The linear taper volume pot seems like a marketing thing to make the amp seem much louder than it really is. You know, it's like "Man, I can only turn my amp up to 3 I'm afraid of what it sounds like on 5". Actually it's not really much louder at 5 or even 8. It kind of blows its wad early. I just use a volume pedal on mine.

This is why you should just turn the thing up half way and use the guitars volume... that's why it's there!

Depending on the guitar it could muddy up yer tone. I had an older Lester that did that.

Other amp manufacturers don't seem to have this problem!
I really want to like Fender amps but it seems the quality isn't there.
My Orange tiny Terror embarrasses most fender amps and its a shame because i'd like to have Fender amps to go with my 5 MIA Fender guitars,
Instead I have 2 orange amps to fit the bill! I do have an Acoustasonic Junior DSP on order i just hope it is better than the CRATE replaced with it!

Nothing wrong with Orange amps. I gigged with a 100 watter way back.
The construction of most of the newer amps, not just Fender, really leaves me cold. Especially for the money they're charging. Plywood cabs, thin sub standard pcb's, cheap imported components cheap tubes. I'm plan on building my own 5e3 very soon. My ptp Twin, Champ, Vibrolux, and Bandmaster amps never ever gave me problems.
My 2 year old Hot Rod Deluxe has been repaired several times for bad solder joints and failed components. It's a shame, it really is a decent sounding amp but I just can't count on it.

I'm playing Prosonics and if you look inside these they are quite well made amps.
As far as embarassing my Prosonics that would not be likely  !
Matter of fact just last week I took the one off 120 watt Red Prosonic head I have that Zinky gave Brad Whitford ino a local shop. I know the guys there quite well and they have been after me to bring the Aerosmith Prosonic in so they could get a look at the monster. We fired it up in the amp room on a Boogie 4/12 with Vin 30's and the beast promptly stomped a mud hole in a whole room full of assorted Boogies, Marshalls, Genz Benzes and Boogners that were on hand! Nuked um on both clean and REALLY killed the Recs on bottom end CHUNK and clarity at high gain! Just destroyed the Ubershall, Road King, and Triple Recs they had on the crunch side tone wise!! I suspect that there is not much on this planet that would embarrassing MY Fenders!!
The Red Prosonic BTW DOES have Audio taper pots on the volumes. Good thing too cauze if it didn't it would be pretty much unusable! When you crank it this thing is just STUPID LOUD   ! Physical pain threshold begins at about 4 on the crunch side on my 4/12!!

Fender prosonics custom shop 1996-2002 or post 2002 mexican made one? Either way 's great, I just think the new stuff is riden on the
coat tails of previous amps. I've purchased two "new" fender amps and
they both had problems. I'll still stick to my guns and say that the "tone"
you get from a "made in china" Tiny Terror outclasses almost any
under $1000.00 current production Fender. Unlimited head room?
Of course not! Just wonderful tone studio levels. And it records well.
And yes it will put many higher dollar rigs to shame. I've played and
heard lots of amps in my 21 years of playing, and all i'm saying is
the new Fender amps are backslidin and when they stop...I'll buy anaother.

My Prosonics are all 4 USA CS amps but I just sold a Blond Oxblood Super Sonic head a few months back that was a killer. The Tiny Terror is a nice rig and I do agree the build quality of some of the newer Fenders I have seen was not IMO up to par with the old ones.
Hey it could be WORSE like GIBSONS non exsistant QC on $3 K + guitars for example!! I do think things have slid back some but thank GOD we still are not at the CBS levels of $%^$ from Fender !!

Cool, Ascension. Yeah please don't take any offense to my comment.
See, I consider myself a "FENDER" guy and as such I hope someone
with some "pull" actually reads these posts and checks out my claim!
I WANT to buy Fender amps too! Maybe I just have crappy luck and
every single one I've purchased was a dud or my expectations were
too high. I don't know maybe I should face it that its ok to play their guitars exclusively and not their amps. To me there IS a market
for low wattage professional grade amps. I shouldn't have to buy
an EVH 5150 to get quality. Studio musicians need to be able to
crank their amps too.

No offense taken man! I play Washburn USA Custom Shop guitars but am now exclusively using the Prosonics. I just look for tone and reliability in whatever I buy. It does bother me that most higher level Fender Amps are made overseas and in Mexico now days. Using PC board mounted tube sockets and pots bothers me a LOT also.

I'm not a Gibson guy by any means, but some of Fenders guitars aren't up to snuff either. My brother just bought a MIM Strat that the neck was horrible on and had to go back. I also had a American Tele that went back with issues too and I finally got rid of it. You never know. I have an original 72 Strat that is my pride and joy (no pun intended) that never saw a repair shop and sounds incredible. 70's Strats and Teles were supposed to be junk. QC is lacking almost everywhere and with everyone today.
