I bought a new Blues Junior about a year ago and have been very impressed with what it can do. I live in a small house and it has more volume than I can ever use. I recently bought an Ibanez Tube Screamer to get some real cool distortion out of it as well. It was only $120 and really added to the flexibility of the amp.
My vote is for the Blues Junior.

Just curious as I'm in the market for a BJ as well. How well does it respond to a distortion pedal? What kind of Distortion could you compare it to? I've played stock BJ's. Never tried one with a pedal. What about Jaques' set up with her distortion pedal?

An update on the BJ: I see that the last time I posted was Oct 31, the day before rehearsals started for Big River. Once they began, that was the 800-lb gorilla in my life. I was either learning parts at home, or at the music practice room on campus. The score -- which I hadn't seen when I last posted -- proved to feature the harmonica for the first 16 bars of the overture, and in prominent spots throughout the play. In the event, I only had to play "as written" for the overture and the intro into one of the early songs of Act I. the high point (for me) was a guitar/harp blues thing that the Pap Finn character sang. On Broadway, the part was played by John Goodall, and when he left the cast, Roger Miller took over, so the bar was set pretty high.

But enough about that. I'm now back to the electric guitar and BJ. Yesterday a long-time playing partner and I tried to make up for lost time (we last got together in September!) and we played from around 3 until 10 last night. He plugged his electric-acoustic Martin into my Jazzmaster Ultralight (sounded excellent, by the way) and I ran the 335 through the BJ. The place we were playing was a geodesic dome home he built in the '80s, with cathedral ceilings and terrific acoustics. I was finally able to crank the BJ up to the sweet spot, and sweet it was. The combination of the 335 and the Fender was as good as I've heard. I liked the Blues Jr before (having played it only in my living room and at a VERY quiet gig at a local church), but when it's in a good space where it can be turned up, it comes to life and sings.

It's a keeper...and only 31 lb.
