That's a great lookin' amp.

I've got a BJ NOS in the tweed. Love it! Run it in parallel with my '65 RI Deluxe Reverb through a Lehle Little Dual amp switcher. Killer.

If it'll make you feel any better about potential remorse, the Blues Jr.s are in the 'Hot Rod' Series.

Also just picked up a Pro Jr. to drag with me to work on the backshifts. Hot quite as fond of it. Thinking about upgrading it's speaker.

Oh it really is. I love the laquered tweed. Had to buy a tweed case for my Strat just because of the BJ. (Wonder if I could laquer that case?.?.?)

But other than the tweed, the only difference between the BJ and the BJ NOS is the speaker. Same guts and same tubes. (Although some will argue this. The acronym NOS, (New, Old Stock) doesn't, in this case anyway mean anything other than in regard to the look. And the upgraded speaker)

The NOS has a Jensen C12...I forget, either the N or the K, which ever one is rated at 40w. (The other is rated at 100 and is what is in my '65 RI Deluxe Reverb).

The 'reglar' Blues Jr. has what I believe is the 'Specially Designed for Fender' Eminance speaker.

In fact that's the speaker my Pro Jr. just came with. I donna like it, Cap'n. (Researching 10" Jensens and Webers w/alnico's right now.)

Interesting to note that all the above speakers use ceramic magnets. Want to immediately replace the one in the Pro. Jr. Looking at Jensen P10R, P10Q, & Weber Vintages, either the 10A125 or 10A150.

Here's how the NOS looks next to my Strat. I think it's a match made in heaven. And they sound as awesome as they look.

Image

Although the lighting isn't as good in this one, the walnut stained gold trimmed Gretsch looks just as awesome next to that amp as the Strat does. At least, I think so.

Here's link to my own NOS, next to an Epiphone Sheraton II (replaced in the first of the month with a 335, then traded the Epi for a Precision bass).

Here is what I did, I opted for the blues junior, only because I knew I wanted a larger amp later on, I figured if I got anything bigger than a blues junior it would defeat the purpose of getting a larger amp later, so I use the blues junior for practice at home and small clubs and I bought a 65 twin reverb r/i for the really BIG sound. Good Luck on your quest.

Thank-you Jaque. Wasn't sure when I ordered the picguard, or even after I replaced it. Just knew I didn't care for the brown tortous shell one that came on it.

BTW, the gold isn't as dark as the flash in the pic makes it look. Looks MUCH better than the pic.

Here's a link that explains why I've decided to keep it this way. Funny!

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... highlight=

Although, if I could find an anodized aluminum one that was the same burgandy color as the burgandy on the small Fender plaque that's on the front of the Blues Jr. NOS, that'd be one I'd just have get, for the occasional mood change.

There are those who don't like the gold pickguards...I don't play Fender guitars, but I have three Fender basses, one of which is the Classic '50s Precision. Mine's fiesta red, and there's not a better choice for a pickguard than the gold.

Nice Strat, nice BJ.

Yeah i really like those gold pickguard, i was thinking about getting one for my Candy Cola Strat. That Gilmour strat look awsome... the look of the bridge and the tuners with that pickguard is nice!!! It would look cool too with a Blizzard Pearl finish!

I didn't know the Blues Junior NOS tweed was the same price as my Blues Junior Texas Red!!! Never heard a comparision of a NOS and a Texas Red... i wonder wich sound better, i guess it would be the NOS tweed with that Jensen Speaker.

I don't play bass, but each time that i go to the music store, those Fender Bass Classic player always draw my attention each time i see it, looks cool with the tinted neck and the gold picguard.

Candy Cola and gold would look good.

I got the tweed HRBJNOS (is that all the letters?) to go with my blond ES-335. For my road warrior LP, the regular black Fender look suffices....

Ooooh Jaque don't sell your Red short. Wouldn't surprise me if many folks would think it sounds better than the NOS. I'd imagine there's a noticible difference. You made me curious so I did a little digging. The Red uses a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker that is described to be similar to the Celestion Blues, which were raved about in the VOX's. The NOS has a Jensen C12N. Both these use a cermamic magnet.

To buy those speakers on line now, the Celestion is $120 and the Jensen is $90.

BTW, I just ordered a Jensen P10R for my new little Pro Jr. Lot's of speaker researching lately.

Hehe thanks Dafreeze for that information. The salesman told me that the speaker that i have in my Texas Red worth about 100$, but i wasn't sure if he was lying or not to sale me that amp. But no i would never sell that amp hehe. Even if the NOS tweed would sound better... that red color is just too gorgeous for trading it haha!

You're welcome. It really is a great looking amp. Would love to hear it.

Someone showed me a pic of a Fender HotRod...can't remember which one, but it was bright red, glossy finish, with a pair of racing stripes. That one looked really good too.

I love Fender.

LP, you don't play Fender guitars? Buddy I've been a Les Paul guy since I was a kid and you couldn't pry my studio away from me. (Owned a Heritage Standard 80Elite years ago that to this day is the prettiest Les Paul I've ever seen).

But Man I've got to tell you I've been awakened. Bought my first Fender guitar a couple months ago, the '07 American Deluxe Strat pic'd on the previous page and although not quite the bad@$$ the Les Paul is it can come pretty close. Just dreamy bluesy tones out of the neck pup and the neck feels like it was carved in Heaven. The whole guitar does, in fact. Not only is it the nicest feeling and playing guitar I own but that I've ever picked up. It's my opinion that every guitarists OWES it to himself to own one.

And Nicin, that's a sweet looking couple of pics. I almost went with a Twin Reverb last January when I decided on a Deluxe Reverb. Had been seriously considering the Princeton Reverb as well. Decided to go the way I did for a couple reasons. I'm not in a position to do any jamming as yet plus I already knew I'd want another amp that was a bit smaller to match it up with. Ended up with the BJ NOS and what a perfect choice.

And a little update on the Pro Jr. I looked at a lot of speakers to upgrade it with and for a couple reasons decided to go with a Jensen P10R. It should arrive Wed or Thurs.
