Hey,

Im looking for the best fender amp for me but have yet to find the one. I play a rickenbacker 330 and am going for a tone between something very clean and loud to a mix between queens of the stone age/neil young overdrive tone....

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

John

If you're gigging, you may want to check out Fender's Hot Rod series. The amps in that line can play cleanly and give you tube distortion as well.

same answer. The clean channel is outstanding on this amp, the distorded one OK, better with subtle mods...

It's a really powerfull amp, needs a 100kOhm pot in the effect loop to work as an attenuator, mainly for home usage.

40 tube Watts.

Well that's quite a range. I'm a pretty loyal Fender guy but let's think about this. A very loud clean would qualify a Twin Reverb. A Neil Young overdrive would qualify a '57 Tweed 5E3, not a tweed Blues or Hot Rod Deluxe, however those (Hot Rod and Blues Deluxes) are probably your best, and cheapest, options.

Of course if money weren't necessarily an object I'd be prone to a Twin Reverb and 5E3 Deluxe with a split cable to go to both amps at the same time.... that'd be sweet!
