The Bassman might be the best amp in the world - the one that the early Marshalls were based on, the choice of Buddy Guy, BB King, Clapton, Johnny Winter...

While the Hot Rods and Reverbs get 1x12 and 2x12 versions there's only one version of the Bassman.

Why not make a new Bass-Breaker (2x12) for players who want the early Clapton tone?

...or a 1x12 cabinet version for guys who just want to carry less weight?

...or better yet - A head version and let people use it with the Hot Rod enclosures or just pick any other cabinet that suites them?

A lot of what makes a Bassman a Bassman is the 2 ohm OT and the 410's. Personally I think what would make a better 212 or 112 combo are the mid 60's Bassman heads.

What you see in some boutique amp makers is an output switch allowing different taps (4, 8, 16, ohms for example), but Fender doesn't really do that. However I think the market is going in the multi-power (5, 20, 50, watts), multi-tap direction in both heads and combo's. It just makes any amp a little more versatile.

I'd love to see all the old Fenders reissued to some extent. Limited runs and such, but I don't think that would be very cost effective in terms of production.

Come on mannnnn....

Most of us would take the Bassman versions without the multi tap or multi power. Just basic 40 watts of big tone. Think small on features, modifications, etc...

Think big when it comes to tone...

I know you're with me on this one... 8)

Probably because it was originally a bass amp.

Bassmans are Bassman and they have always had 4 x 10's. Also add Springsteen and George Benson who have played through the Bassmans. Try a Blues DeVille, that might get you the bassman jr. tone your looking for.
