Welcome,

The blues junior (being a tube amp) to a certian extent is unique to itself. Two exact settings may sound different on two BJ's. That said Try something like this. Depending on how much natural tube saturation you want you may want to try different levels of both the master and the volume. Keep in mind that the Master more or less acts like you gain on this amp.

I think that it's pretty individual for most of us so I'll give you two tips:

a. What guitar do you use it with? I find myself scooping the mids when I'm using humbuckers and increasing it with single coils.

b. Many of my favorite blues players (Albert Collins, Johnny Winter) used to turn the bass down and turn the treble up. It sounds better on amps with a big speaker cabinet (it is naturally bassy) but it is also great when you want to cut through the band for a blues solo - should work well when using the "fat" boost on the Blues Jr.

Personally I just tinker with it until it sounds good. It's not a complicated amp.

I play a Les Paul Deluxe and an Epi Sheraton, both with humbuckers, so my settings may well be different, but here goes:

For grit, turn up the gain and turn down the volume; for clean, turn down the gain and turn up the volume. To add sustain, up with the gain and down with the volume.

To smooth out your sound, add reverb; to make it sharper, back off.

As for tone controls, keep turning 'em until they sound right. With my guitars, the overall sound is a combination of the pickup selection and tone position on the guitar, the overall frequency response of the guitar (one is more trebly, the other warmer) and the position of the tone controls on the amp.

Once you find the sound, you'll know it.[/img]

I've had mine for a few weeks now, I'm really getting to know the amp now. Like ipdeluxe said, tinker around a bit. It's part of the fun, enjoy it.
