I just got one !!!!!!!!!!
Saw it on the store and had to get it:)
The sound is much, much better than the stock black one that I had a couple of years ago.
It has the Celestion Vintage 30 speaker on it, not sure if the tubes are also different than the stock black one.
I am playing my strat and my archtop on it, and can not get a single bad setting.
The distortion is sweet and sings like a big amp. I also have a Blues Deluxe USA and this red guy is up to par.
The deal maker for me was the reverb, don't know if they did something to it, but it is GOOOOOD!
I read somewhere that only 800 were made, so looks like a keeper!
The ratio between volume and master knobs is somehow better balanced now, maybe it is just an illusion, but I could get a great Claptonesque woman tone by rolling down the tone pot a little, the amp just sings. Again, the reverb is unbelievable clear. And take this from the guy who sold his black Blues Jr, because of the *** reverb.
The label in front is from the tweed editions and it has a cool Texas Red bag with a funny chili on it.
(BTW, also saw the HotRod covered in Python vynil and that was so crazy...! It looks awesome...)

However, I see no official info on the fender site about this Texas Red thingy...

Hello Miguelrc,

Sounds like neat Blues Jr. variation
what store did you make the purchase?
Possibly a run for that chain only.

Best of luck with it.

Cheers.

Elderly has them also - they say they are a Fender Special Run (FSR) and there are only 800 of them being made. Only real change appears to be the color, the logo, and the speaker.

It does look very nice. :P Congrats on picking one up.

Hi Folks,

I just got one yesterday, Nice little amp!

I was told it has better tubes then the Tolex and of course the better speaker.

I could not find a new Tweed NOS anywhere in Canada, so I figured this was the next best thing.

Regards.

i'm going to the music store in 3 days, hope they have one left!!! I was decided to get a Hot rod Deluxe, but my cheap 15 watt solid state amp is too loud for using in my appartment... so i guess the Hot Rod will be wayyy too loud for what i use, and those Texas Red amp are so nice!

Hi

I almost bought a Blues Deluxe Tweed, but to much amp for what I need.

The Blues Jr will definately be loud enough for you, it blasts for a little amp and it looks so sweet.

I hope you can get one, enjoy :)

Regards.

15watts (BJ) to 40watts (BD) does not make a big increase in SPL, couple of DB at most.
:)
The default speaker in them is rated around 97db at 1watt/1meter I think
The needed watts go up quick for each additional DB to be squeezed out..

However those reds look nice, and they have an upgraded speaker in them!
After a long drought, they are finally showing up in all the stores here.
The BJ in red tolex and another fender in a black and white snakeskin cabinet (wife hated it)

Almost wish I had held out, or maybe.....OhNo ..... GAS is rearing it head !!!

Where in Canada are you?
Last weekend both the Arts Music shop in Newmarket and Long&McQuade in Markham had the red-tolex Blues Junior out on their floors.

It does have a different speaker than the standard tolex version, but as far as I've seen all fenders amps come with the same Groove Tubes in them, which are just rebranded Russian SoveTek tubes.
They are good solid long lived tubes but a tad noisy and harsh.

Kind of annoying these special edition amps are not found listed among the amp products pages.

Hey Peterp,
I am way down here in eastern canada, new brunswick.
We do have a "long and mcquade" subsidiary store here in saint john. I sent an email to store in ottawa and asked if it could be made available down here. Still waiting for reply.
It is annoying that the amps aren't listed, but what is really annoying is our canadian dollar. I was at a local music shop yesterday enquiring about pricing on a guitar and the guy told me he wasn't sure as he had 10 emails that day alone telling him to mark prices up anywhere from 15-23 % because of the uncertainty of our dollar. That's alot of sheckles for a big ticket item.
I do hope to pick up one of these beauties in the next couple of weeks, just hope they are still available.
cheers

If the Ottawa store doesn't respond, try the Markham one. They at least had a red BJ in stock last weekend, though they seem to sell quick :)

Ya the $ exchange rate is getting quite annoying again.
I ordered 36$us in tubes and got nailed 12$us for the exchange.,
