Anyone running an external cab with this amp. I heard you could do it with an Avatar Cab with 2 jacks.

Greg -
I've had my SCXD about a month, and it does a fine job driving the 4x10s in my hot rod deville.
I've not tried splitting the power amp output so as to also drive the SC's own 10" speaker, but you should be able to do it. As you may already know, just be careful how you wire it; if the combined resistance is less than 8 ohms, you risk damage to the amp [and the resistance calculation differs depending on whether the speakers are wires in series or parallel].
Good luck!

Thanks ST. I already put a Ragin Cajun speaker into my SCXD and would like to use it along with a cab so its not wasted money by not using it. I know about the resistance differences and will be careful what I connect the SCXD to. Thanks again.

I too am wanting to build or buy a 2x10 cabinet and have my super champ drive it. I just purchased a set of Ragin Cajuns (8 ohms each) from a friend before I realized that the SCXD only outputs 8 ohms.

How do I wire these two speakers for my SCXD to drive them? Parallel? Or do I need to get two 4 ohm speakers? or series? any electronics that can help?

It would be great to run all three speakers (inboard one too), but just driving the cab for gigs and using inboard to practice would be fine.

Any help?

2 8 ohm speakers wired in parallel = 16 ohms
2 8 ohm speakers wired in series = 4 ohms

Sorry dude, you'll have to go with the 16 ohm load unless your amp has a 4 ohm output. Go to the Rockford/Fosgate website. They have a chart/calculator that will tell you any ohm load with almost any speaker combination.

thanks, after doing some research today I found out this same info, :(

What exactly will happen plugging in 2 10s at 16 ohms into my SCXD at 8ohms? Is it even worth it?

I will probably just keep one of the Ragin' Cajuns, install in my amp cabinet and sell the other on ebay for $50. :(

Thanks for responding!

Well, by doubling the impedence(resistance) it would cut your wattage in half presumably.

Thanks that settles it for now. I'll just keep one of the Ragin' Cajuns, install in my cabinet and wait until I either have a 4 ohm output amp or find two 4 ohm speakers for a good price.

I really appreciate the responses!

Before you sell your 2d cajun, why not try the two speakers as a 16 ohm load? You may find it's plenty loud for your purposes, and my recollection is that the increased speaker load resistance [2x the design spec] shouldn't harm the amp.
Just a thought.

Yeah, I will before I sell it. I may just see about building a single cabinet to hold the extra one, then plug both in. that way i'd have the best of both worlds: portable amp with killer speaker and half stack with two! Thanks!

Or go ahead and built the 2x10 extension cab, and put the second cajun in it, plus the stock XD speaker that you replaced with the first cajun.
I put a cajun in my XD, and it sounds great. Whether it's $60 better is a judgement call, but it's a sunk cost.
A little off topic, but what I've discovered sounds really good to me is running the line out on my XD into the "power amp in" of an old [1985] solid state Peavey Bandit that I've got, with its original single 12". The volume out of the two amps is relatively well balanced, and the Peavey really fills out the bottom end without losing the Fender top end.
Anyway, experiment. You've got lots of options - all probably good.

well, I installed the Ragin' Cajun in my SCXD, along with the electroharmonix 12AX7 pre....it's so good and loud, I don't think I need a cab right now! So I may just hang on to the other speaker until I need a stage presence or I may sell it on ebay to finance more guitars! :)

Thanks to all here for your help!

what would happen if I ran my SuperChampXD with my GDE-C Jr they both have the same impendance. or would this not be possable.

also would a Hot Rod Deluxe be a good match to run with a Super Champ XD.

and if not could suggest some that are.

So could I run a line from the line out of the Super Champ XD into the speaker input on my older Twin-Reverb and it would work fine?

Guys as I said in another topic I tried my SCXD with a very cheap Laney 2x12 cab. I was totally amazed. The same sound but more "filling the room " even in small volumes. it was getting much lower without loosing crispnes. If i spoke English better i would explain it better for you, but anyway just have in mind that it's AMAZING !!!
Greetings from Greece...
