Hi Rholloman,

Cyber Commander will output and input these txt files. Yes, just copy and paste into notepad, save file from notepad, then do a single preset get from file in Cyber Commander. that simple. Of course Cyber Commander will also output a txt file every time you do a single preset save to file.

ciao,
johnn.y

Then that would be another good point in favor of the CC in combination with the CT SE.

No more manually putting in the settings from text.

Another nice touch.

Never again would you have to do anything manually ever again. All click, drag-n-drop.

Ciao,
Johnny.

Maybe there should be a central place for the presets that we share. That way they wouldn't be lost in several threads. What do the rest of you think?

Meanwhile, here's one of my presets that I like a lot. (I have another like it but with slightly different tone settings)

Code:
1  "My '65 TRRI     "    =Preset Name          ;
2  "Blackface"           =Tone Stack           ;
3  "Pre-Distortion"      =Tone Position        ;
4  "Reverse Polarity"    =Speaker Phase        ;
5  "Blackface Tube 3"    =Drive Circuitry      ;
6  "Amp Tremolo"         =Effect Type          ;
7  "Blackface Reverb"    =Reverb Type          ;
8  "FX Input Only"       =Reverb Bypass        ;
9  "Super Bright"        =Timbre Type          ;
10 "Off"                 =Compressor Type      ;
11 "Low"                 =Noise Gate Type      ;
12  5.4                  =Gain Value           ;
13  5.3                  =Volume Value         ;
14  5.0                  =Treble Value         ;
15  1.2                  =Middle Value         ;
16  5.6                  =Bass Value           ;
17 10.0                  =Presence Value       ;
18  3.5                  =Reverb Value         ;
19 1.00                  =Delay Out Level      ;
20 6.48                  =Tremolo Rate(Hz)     ;
21 7.67                  =Tremolo Depth        ;
22 7.60                  =Trem Duty Cycle      ;
23 "2.98"                =Tremolo Shape        ;
24                       =Dly/Time Change      ;

All,

Hints well taken. Just to let you know, we tried to do that first time out the gate, and as it turned out, we had to lower our sights to open www.generalcybersystems.com . We have plans to upgrade the site, but that's all I'm going to say for now, we'll announce only when it's ready.

For now, Fender Forum has been incredibly gracious to allow us to post here. It says volumes about the folks who run this site and Fender. I would suggest using this forum & post for now.

By the way, we really enjoy hearing from everyone and we'll help with Cyber Twin, Cyber Foot Controller, or Cyber Commander questions whenever we can!

many, many thanks,
john.

I just thought I'd post an update on my findings with the Cyber Commander.

Since the above review, I have found a couple of very useful things about the program.

One is the "Build Players Lounge" section of it. With this I have been able to have two (so far - more later if needed) sets of the "Players Lounge" presets.
One I call "surf" and the other "blues". And with the CC I can load which ever I want at the time into the CT SE for use. A handy feature if you like to play different types of music.

Also found there is a nice feature for those that do have the Fender Cyber FootController. It's called "Build Midi Map". I don't have that foot controller, so I can't tell you much about that. But it looks like it will be a help to those that do have it.

Another thing I found and tried out by reading this forum. And that's copying in the preset txt file and letting CC make a preset for me, and then copying it over to the amp for use. Very nice! And Much better than trying to dial the settings in manually!

Hopefully we can start, and continue, sharing some of our favorite presets now. :D

Just wanted to mention there's another useful utility called FC Channel Map. This was put in to allow MIDI channel reprogramming without re-programming your foot controller or the Cyber Twin. Cyber Commander can automatically translate from one channel to another.

While we're on MIDI channels, the CT Sys Utils allow you to set the Cyber Twin's MIDI channels and SysEx ID and CC MIDI Comms lets you set the channel numbers and SysEx ID that Cyber Commander outputs. I don't think anyone has tried this yet, it's a bit advanced, but very easy to do with Cyber Commander. Very useful if you are going to control multiple CT's.

I'd like to ask what other features would you like to see added? I had one request to think about adding a sequencer to Cyber Commander where the software sequences the settings automatically. Or does it make sense to switch settings with a foot controller? Would greatly appreciate hearing from you!

BTW, happy Thanksgiving from Canada (we are a bit early on this holiday) and a big hello to my bud, Momo at the www.themomozone.com .

Thanks,
Johnny.

Hey Johnny

I record with cubase and I was wondering if there was a way to get cubase to send a midi command to CT to change the amp settings automatically in the middle of a recording. Is that possible? If it was that would be totally cool.

Hi Waynesworld,

The easiest way I can think of is to preprogram the CT's Player's Lounge, the MIDI Map, and MIDI comm parameters, something Cyber Commander is pretty good at doing. Use Cyber Viewer to get a printout of the Player's Lounge. This list gives you the entire Player's Lounge on two sheets - easy to keep track of what you have. I am assuming you have your own custom sounds and do not need the Your Amp or Fender Custom Shop (if you do, get the preset lists from our website - it is accurate).

I would arrange the MIDI Map Program Number 000 to point to my first Player's Lounge P00 and so on. Start with P00, then program cubase to issue "Program Change Control" commands to mimic the Fender Cyber Foot Controller at the right time points. The Program Change Control can be sent to the CT as if it came from the Cyber Foot Controller but instead it will come from cubase. Cyber Commander does exactly the same thing when it intercepts the Foot Controller data. Wire cubase the same way you wire the Cyber Foot Controller directly to the CT. If you used Cyber Commander, you probably do not have to do a thing.

The Program Change Control command is described somewhat in our manual and Fender's CT manual. Actually, the two manuals complement each other well. cubase will have to output Program Change Control in exactly the same manner as the Cyber Foot Controller or Cyber Commander. This is the one thing i do not know that cubase can do. I am hoping it can.

Once the CT has been preprogrammed, set up cubase to control the CT. Cubase will have to be programmed to send the Program Change Control commands to mimic the Cyber Foot Controller, and then of course, Cubase needs to send this data to the CT - use the same MIDI devices that Cyber Commander uses. I would recommend running either Cyber Commander or Cubase one-at-a-time to avoid potential clashes in Windows for the same hardware. Remember, Cubase sends the data (transmit) and the CT receives the data, so the MIDI device of interest is the one that is connected to the MIDI IN port of the CT.

Please make sure the cubase MIDI Transmit Channel is the same as the CT MIDI Receive Channel. Use Cyber Commander to set up the CT as required. Please note the Cyber Foot Controller default Transmit Channel Number = 1 always, and Cubase Transmit Channel Number should be identical to the CT Receive Channel Number. I would recommend sticking to TX=RX=1 until you are comfortable playing around. Cyber Commander Systems Setup forces TX=RX=1 and SysEx ID =17 always.

Yes, all very do-able. Many details are described in gory detail in the Cyber Commander and in the Fender CT Manual (the Program Change Control MIDI commands ar the ones you need).

I hope this helps, let me know!

Good Luck,
Johnny.

Wow Johnny

Sounds like pretty advanced stuff but I think a good project for me as soon as I get some time. Thanks for all the input and I'll let you know how I do.

Not as spooky as it sounds. Mind you, it took us long enough to figure it out, but now that we did, we're delighted to share that knowledge with you.

info from Fender SE Manual, Appendix 2, page 27:
Program Change Messages:
Bn 00 00 32 bb Cn pp
n=value is a number 0 to 15, it is the transmit channel number and it corresponds to channels 01 to 16, usually set to 00
bb=value is 00, 01, 02, or 03, the foot controller ALWAYS uses 00 (the MIDI Map), so you should use 00
pp= value is 000 to 127, corresponds to program number 000 to 127.

Ex: B0 00 00 32 00 C0 10
transmit channel number set to 1 (remember, the "0" means channel 1, so set n to 0)
Midi Map selected (the bb is set to 00)
and program number 10 (set pp to 10)

Remember you are programming in bytes, 2 bytes to a nibble, 4 bytes to a word, and you are working in hexadecimal (i.e. 127 in decimal is 7f in hexadecimal). I hope you are comfortable doing this, but that would be it for programming cubase.

If you need a HP-16C binary/logic calculator (it was and is the best one in the business, can't figure out why HP ever stopped making them), you can get a free emulated one for your PC at:
http://www.simtel.net/product.download. ... p?id=29751
file name is wrpn.zip The HP-16C remains an electrical or software engineer's incredibly handy tool. Engineers at Fender, take note, this little tool saves tons of grief.

Ciao,
Johnny.

Guys, I have a copy of the CCT and it works great. I haven't done much tweaking of my CT. The reason being is that I've had mine since the CT was introduced and my custom presets are all gig tested.

I don't really have anything new to add, review wise.

I can say, the Cyber Commander SE has worked great, and flawlessly since correcting my computer OS problems and midi driver problems.

Your long and hard work shows in it's stability.

This morning, using the "My '65 TRRI" preset I posted above, I recorded and posted another one of my "things" at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... tent=music

I called it "Cryin' For My Country"

Maybe some might like it. (just my playin' around - obviously) :)
