I'm using the Roland FC-300 foot controller and in the CC Midi Status section there is a yellow message at the bottom of the foot controller status box that says FC Tx and the number 15 below that and below that is a messege that says "see manual"

Also .. as I'm typing this .. the program has crashed with the messege "Error 1833 MIdiOutShortMsg failed error=1."

?
The foot controller is set to channel15 out and the exp pedal is on CC11 and the volume is set to CC7 ...
The master volume and gain are slow to respond via the foot controller.
It was working perfectly on the "test" computer with no lag at all. Same midi interface .. M-Audio midisport 4x4 .. 4in 4out .. i'm using channel A for CC and channel B for the foot controller. what could be wrong? I've re-installed everything .. cheked all the settings ect.. I can change patches and other parameters and the exp pedal works as expected. Think i'll try to roll back the drivers for the midsport .. they have a horrible history of consitant working drivers. .. or am i missing something.

Well, the clue is: "The master volume and gain are slow to respond via the foot controller". Sounds like MIDI driver problems. CC can't fix faulted drivers. One more thing, inside CC, the data path from foot controller input to the output from CC to the CT is very nearly direct with no lags. It has to be because the volume and controller pedals have to work in real-time. CC operates at your PC clock rate (in the GHz range). The MIDI data stream is a unidirectional asynchronous bit stream at 31.25 Kbits/sec. with 10 bits transmitted per byte (a start bit, 8 data bits, and one stop bit). All MIDI Data entering or leaving CC goes through the drivers - these drivers will operate at most at 31.25KHz. If the drivers are faulted or are competing with one another (like another MIDI device on your system), Windows can/will introduce big lags. My guess: drivers are faulted, or there is a collision on your PC causing the MIDI data rate to crap out. That in turn will cause CC to issue fault messages and time out or hang waiting for a response from the drivers. If you see fault messages like the ones your describing, it points to faulted MIDI drivers. I hope you have no other MIDI devices running - they will compete for Windows resources and cause MIDI clock cycles to slip. This will cause CC to time out - it will also cause your CT to go nuts. There is little we can do except to try to help you isolate what is happening with your PC.

Please note CC is instrumented - if CC detects funny behavior it will issue fault codes. If you get fault codes, there is something wrong with your PC. These fault codes help us to isolate faults. CC cannot fix your PC, but it can help us help you by isolating faults. To help you with your problems, please contact support@generalcybersystems.com . The guy answering will be my bud, he is available most of the time to help out, near real-time.

Ciao,
Johnny.

My laptop is not worth fixing and I'm shopping for a new one. You can't get them with XP anymore and I was worndering if anyone has tried this software with Vista.

Would appreciate any response as I'm going to take advantage of a circuit city closing tomorrow.

Hi All,

Have heard that possibly the Fender Cyber Foot Controller may be discontinued. Is this true? Or just out-of-stock? Anyone (i.e. Fender)?

If yes, we just might update Cyber Commander with another foot controller. Candidates are:
1. Behringer FCB 1010. Actually, the Behringer will work with Cyber Commander as is. However the Behringer seems to have extra few features we could integrate into Cyber Commander (including the graphics).
2. Any suggestions from the community?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If the Fender Cyber Foot Controller is discontinued, we might update Cyber Commander to include another foot controller like the FCB 1010. This largely depends on whether the Fender CFC has been discontinued. Then again, if there's enough interest, we can update for one more foot controller with new graphics and the specific features. To keep the level of effort reasonable, we would consider one other foot controller at this time, provided there is enough interest! So you have an interest, may we please have your feedback?

Ciao,
Johnny.

Spoke to my buds in the retail end. My buds tell me that Fender has just released a new & reduced price for their foot controller. Apparantly available from Fender's warehouses.

I know this doesn't confirm or deny whether the Fender foot controller is being discontinued or not. My buds tell me that if it's in the price catalogue, it's available; however, it says nothing about long term availability. The price reduction could be due to many reasons, including building them for less.

Well, that's all that I know for now.

Ciao,
john.

Three things:

1. Definitely think opening it up to a very easy to find FCB1010 would be extremely useful

2. Just bought the software and would like to install it to a USB Thumb Drive. You could make the USB a key that needs to be in the computer in order for the software to run, but allow the program on many computers.

3. I definitely think there should be a database to upload/download individual user files. Sharing them will bread creativity, as well as some great tweaks. Perhaps people could list them as the Artist/Song they are trying to model.

Just my two cents.

on 1), that is the kind of feedback we are looking for.
on 2), unfortunately that opens up issues including vulnerability to piracy. please note the EULA, this is our policy. we have excellent tracking systems and we will support our customers on a case-by-case basis so if your computer gets snarfed and you wish to move to another, we will support you moving to another. however, the EULA is the policy.
on 3), you are right, we have to revamp our site and we plan to add a trading post.

ciao,
johnny.
