I'm SERIOUSLY considering buying a '59 Bassman Reissue amp. I've played a few in stores and every single time I've been blown away by the sound. I've suffered for the last few years with some cheaper Peavey Classic series amps with GREAT sound, but poor craftsmanship and technical problems that seem to let me down at the WORST possible moments. So I'd like to sell off all my old amps and get one really nice one for practicing and gigging.

The only problem is I have some cabinets I really like and the Bassman doesn't come with an Extension Speaker output. So I'd like to be able to do a mod to add an output so the Bassman would still use its own 4x10 speakers, but also a cab in addition.

Anyone done anything like this or know how I'd go about it?

I could really use a mod like that as well. I'm sorry I don't know how to do it but maybe someone will jump on here and let us know.

What would also be great is a mod to allow the use of an external amp head to plug into the 410's. That way if the amp goes down, during a gig lets say, all you need to do is plug in your favorite backup head and you're good.

Okay so here's how I had it explained to me. There's really no way to safely have the Bassman using it's 410's and an ext. speaker at the same time. But what you can do and what I've done recently to great success is unplug either 1 or 2 of the 10's and plug into an ext. speaker with an RCA (m) to 1/4" (m).

When using a 8 ohm cab only unplug 1 of the 10's.
When using a 4 ohm cab unplug 2 of the 10's.

It actually sounded really nice with 210's on the Bassman and a 212 4 ohm cab.

I've also found a way to use an external head with the Bassman's speakers. I used my little 5w Gibson GA-5 amp. I unplugged the 8 ohm speaker in the Gibby and plugged in a RCA Y cable (1 male RCA to 2 female RCA's), then ran the 2 female RCA's to 2 of the Bassman's 10's.

My plan now is to get another 5w head (like a Champion 600) and do the same thing with the other set of 210's then daisy chain the amps together!

EL84 and 6V6 through 410's. Should be sweet.
