I play in a band and I and my rhythm guitarist use original English Cybertwins. We bought them about 7 years ago from Sound Control in Manchester. Mine is fine but Jim's sometimes doesn't power up when he switches on. The power light comes on but the display shows nothing and no matter which buttons you press nothing happens. Switching the amp on an off a few times seems to clear it. This can happen for a few days and then the amp is perfect for months. This week it did it again on stage but fortunately we had a backup Rockpro. On our second spot the amp came on again fine. Has anyone else experianced this and what can be done about it?

Has your friend replaced his pre-amp tubes (12ax7) ever in the amp? When those tubes get bad they can prevent the amp from producing sound just like e regular tube amp does when it's tubes (usually the power tubes which the Cyber-Twin doesn't have) go bad. Just a troubleshooting idea to check and preamp tubes aren't that expensive. I recommend Elctro Harminex 12ax7's. I hope that helps!!!

Could be loose tubes or wires. Sounds like a connection problem. electronics work/don't work, it's usually because of something that's gone loose.

Agree about the tubes.

Worst case: your power supply is beginning to weaken, the power capacitors could be leaking or momenarily shorting. When electronics don't get enough power, they don't work.

good luck,
johnny.
