Hi mates. I'm looking to buy a second hand solid state Fender for rehearsals (40w at least) and maybe as a backup. I want it strictly as a pedal platform so overdrive it''s not a necessity.

My choices so far are:

Deluxe 85
Deluxe 112 Plus
Deluxe 90
Roc Pro 100
Roc Pro 70
Princeton 112 Plus
Frontman FM65R
Fender M-80

- Which one of them has the best cleans (closest to Fender tube)?
- I've read that Deluxe 112 were problematic or something. Is this true?
- Does the FM65R has a huge volume bump from 1 to 2 which is annoying?
- Any other model(s) with problems?
- Do you have any other amp suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

I bought a Deluxe 85 brand new back in the day and still use it; one thing I can say for sure is it's LOUD even with the volume knob turned to just 1. I eventually replaced the oem speaker with an original English built Celestion G12 Classic Lead 80 for kicks & giggles but the oem speaker sounds good also; still have it and may put it back in one day. It's a nice amp and the reverb is just fine but nothing to write home about. My main amps are a couple of Cyber Twin SE's w/foot controllers and if you stumble across one that's is good working order for cheap grab it. Good luck on your quest.

You might consider an UltraChorus. The stereo effects pedals sound much better in stereo.

+1 A friend gig with UC.

On of my amps is the Princeton Stereo chorus. 2 X 25 watts amp.

is the UltraChorus basically the same as the Ultimate Chorus? I had one of the latter. It was seriously bulletproof (as in "whoops, I dropped it down a set of stairs, but it's still working ok"). Lots of power and a slightly sterile but pleasant clean sound.

I don't know. I have schematic for the Ultimate , not for the Ultra.

Hey guys thanks for your replies! I prefer the 1x12 version although an amp with chorus is always temptation! :D

Any other suggests?
In my town a guy sells a Frontman FM65R in pristine condition for 120 euro (equals to 120 usd). But i read somewhere that there is a big volume jump fron 1 to 2 which perhaps needs a modification or something.
Any thoughts?

Hey, thanks for the link!
So, apparently there is a volume "issue"...i see.
I don't know if an electronic tech can fix this or if it's worth the extra money.

A good tech can fix anything.
Any amp may have some issue.
Amps with lots of feature are the worst to fix and may cost more.

The most reliable amps and easiest to repair at low cost are the vintage tubes amps. Blackface and earlier Silverface
