Recently my HRDv II blew the fuse. I suspect that the value it had maybe it's not the stock value. It had a 0.4/250V. Does anybody knows the stock value please? I'm afraid if I put a wrong value my amp will suffer a sever damage.

For North America 120 volts ; 3 amps fuse, see below.
European 240 volts ; 1,6 amps

Fuse you see should be a 4 amp not 0.4 amp fuse wich can't power ON the amp .

Fuse blew is often because one or more outputs tube is blow.
Try a new fuse , if it blew remove all Output Power tubes and try new fuse with no Output Power tubes in.
Yes it is safe for the amp .

If fuse don't blow. Replace all Output power tubes with same brand.
If you put another brand, amp need to see a tech for a tubes bias.
Most of the time same brand may not need bias

Alway buy few fuses.

Report.

Hello Stratele. Thanks for your reply. I have a pair of 3 amps fuse but are 250V, will they work? a 4 amps fuse will blow later than a 3 amps fuse right?

Thanks in advance

Ok for your 3 amps 250 volts fuse.

4 amp fuse may not protect your amp
It will blow with more current than the 3 amps , Can we say it blow later ???

Hello Stratele

Thank you so much, I did the test first with no pre and no power tubes and the 3 amps fuse doesn't blew, then I put the 3 pre tubes and tested again and again the fuse was safe. I guess this lead me to think that one or both of the 6L6 tubes are bad.

The power tubes the amp had are vintage General Electric. Is safe to put a pair of JJ if my tech matched them long time ago?

The old blew fuse I took out, i look it carefully with a magnifier and maybe I saw the dot (0.4 A) but I think is 04 amp what says and the dot is a scratch on the metal frame of the fuse.

JJ are good tubes.
You need to see a tech to do bias to these tubes, not matched them.
Be sure you see a qualified tech, there are too many "handy man" in amp repair they can't do bias properly.

Matched tubes mean with same bias tube will operate the same. Buy a matched pair.

Your amp have one single Bias pot and adjust bias to both tube in same time.
Some rares amp have bias pot for each tube. With those pots you can "match" tubes.

It would be way more useful if you wouldn’t litter the forum with umpteen threads about the same amp. One thread will be just fine.

Frankly, sounds like you should not be anywhere near the inside of an amp. Button that thing up before you kill yourself and/or burn your house down.

You are right Shimmilou, next time I will use the same thread. Don't worry, I'm very careful and changing a fuse should not be dangerous at all.

Thanks

Mister, I wouldn't trust you to change the batteries in a double D-cell flashlight!

Take that amp to a professional before you incinerate yourself.
