Hello! The preamp section of my Blues Jr (V1-V2-V3 from left to right, standing in front of the rear panel) has this line: V1 GT-12Ax7 ; V2 GT-12Ax7 ; V3 GT-ECC83-s
I ask: why the three tubes are not the same? why the different one is on the V3 position? Can I replace the preamp section with a GT-12Ax7 matched trio or do I need a GT-12Ax7 matched duo plus a GT-ECC83-s? :?
Thank you for kind help!

12AX7 is the USA name for same tube ,ECC83 is the European name.
You can put anyone of these tube everywhere in the amp where you found 12AX7/ ECC83

Why Fender put different name ? Fender worker put the tubes he found mixed (?) from the box ?
Or no more 12AX7 in stock and next box are ECC83 ?

Wich one ? GT 12AX7 matched duo ? GT-ECC83 s ?
Short answer ; any 12AX7 or ECC83 will work. Most of the time I bought JJ ECC83 where is 2AX7or ECC83
JJ is very good tubes with low price
.

Short answer ; Tubes are like guitar strings, some like more a brand over another.
With test on your amp you may like more some brand or find some tubes are more quiet.

You want to know more a break your head ?

Ok, thanks. Well, nothing's wrong with the standard GT, I think I could go with them.
So if the preamp section works with 3 "12Ax7" I can't go wrong.

You never need preamp tubes on your amp life unless you keep the amp 25 years.
It is a waste of money. Amp will never stop working for a "bad" preamp tube.

Output tubes could be useful for spair. These may blow in gigs ; Always buy exactly the same . These tubes are not like preamp tubes.

Yes, I know about matched El84s. I didn't know the life of the ecc83 was so long

Preamp tubes ( 12AX7 / ECC83) do not work hard, they last many many years.
With bad preamp tubes, amp will always work. You may loose a little output power and / or sound may not be as good as a new tubes but you can use the amp.

Output power tubes work hard. They don't need to be a matched pair, but it is good to buy matched pair.
Most important buy exactly the same brand you have in the amp.
When output tube is bad, your amp will stop and / or fuse may blow.

If you do not buy exactly the same Output tube, amp will need to see a tech for output tubes bias.
With no bias, Output Tubes may have their life shortened ; In worst case, few hours and less....
