I bought this secondhand from an online store. Reverb DOA, so I assumed it was the typical tank failure..?even though the reverb could be heard in the speaker, if I jerked it a bit. So I bought a new Accutronics tank, fitted it...and still the same...no reverb. All wires checked out correctly with avo meter. Took the PCB out, and did a blanket solder of most everything..?still not working. I am now guessing there is a failed component on the PCB.
I contactedFender, and the 'tech' ( in name only, I suspect ;) ) was unable to help. So I am wondering if there are any REAL 'TECHS' on here, who might be able to help, and suggest what I could attempt to do, to get the reverb working again please?
Merry Christmas, and a rockin' good New Year to all!!!

If you hear reverb in the speaker, reverb Recovery OP amp is working.
Issue could be the reverb Send OP amp ; U5 a.
I fix many amps over year, never this amp with this issues
Test with 'scope show if I'm right about U5 a Op amp.

Schematic and PCB board here:

http://www.electronicstudio.net/schemat ... ic_653.pdf

Be sure the reverb tank is the right one for the amp.

Thanks for the rapid, and informed opinion. Sadly, I don't have a scope :( and to take it to a pro repairer would make it too expensive to repair. (I am 73, retired musician ). Be cheaper to buy a reverb pedal, or just buy a new 40 watt from Amazon...but no spring reverb, just electronic, which I don't like...sound is changed so much by the pedal!

Best is to always test amp before buying.
Yes, reverb pedal could be a good buy.

Fender does not repair these amps under any circumstance. If the unit is under warranty, the customer is given a new amp and the defective one is destroyed. If it is not, the customer is told to go pound sand and sent on his way.

Sell your new Reverb tank on the web ; E-Bay, Reverb or better (?) Facebook Maketplace

It is not only a reverb issue you write in a second post ;

Sorry for the delay in responding nagain...been quite ill ;) I have a photo of the PCB, where the send and return connections to the reverb are. Can you tell me which component might have failed? IC, or diode? Don't fancy changing everything blindly! Thanks again!

Stupid old Man!! I was looking for 'U5a',,,and somewhere near the output cable...found it way over to the right! So, could I try changing this, and see what happens? :D Edit: must have overheated, and burned the identification letters off...can you tell me the correct ID for this chip please?

See if this schematic and layout doesn't look more like what you see inside your amp:
https://elektrotanya.com/fender_fm_65r. ... nload.html
You'll have to jump through a hoop before you can download.
I would only be "guessing" as to what your problem could be.

StratTele has a good idea, the reverb send IC. The schematic listed above, above the photo, is for a FM25R, where it shows U5.
But you need the FM65R schematic, not sure the IC number. The 65R schematic I found on the internet is really fuzzy when you Zoom in. So I might agree with you, it’s the IC right next to the red J5 send connector.
Also in your picture, it looks like C33 is missing. That looks like part of the circuit on the 65R schematic.
So double check that’s ok, might be an issue. Also hard to see IC no. Take your time, see if you can get a clearer FM65R schematic to help. That’s a good smart comment you posted.
Yeah, what vinyl said.

Apologies, no layout with the schematic I posted. U5 is a TL072 op-amp. TL074 might be a better replacement. U6 is a 4560 op-amp.
