Hello guys,
I have a Vibroverb 63 RI and it's USA 110V version. Since I'm living in Europe where the electrical power in home sockets is 220-230V i got an step down transformer from 220V to 110V.
But, this step down tranny isn't grounded on the 110V output. Sometimes, when I'm playing guitar and singing at once, I'm feeling a small intensity electric shocks on my lips when I touch the microphone.
First question is are those shocks are coming from non-grounded amp?
Any solution?
Second question is are those factory trannies in Vibroverb 63RI have an option to be switched on voltage different than 110V (like in some other Fender models)?
Any solution?
Thanks in advance,
B.

Schematic

Look Power transformer is for 120 volts wiring only.

Why don' t you bought a stepsdown tranny with ground ? You need a 350 - 400 watts minimum
No ground = electric shocks

Did you try to flip the ground switch on the back ? Or it is a dummy switch ?

Thanks for the fast response. I've tried with the ground switch,it seems to be a dummy switch. Now is everything clear to me. I have to find new grounded transformer.
Thank you again, cheers!

I can't find step down / step up transformer with no ground. All have ground.

Look a your cable plugs / adapter from your step down transformer output to amp. it could be the wrong one and you can buy the good one with ground

Show picture of you transformer with cable plugs you use.
Or link I can see which one is it .

Don't buy a new one if you only need the right plug/ adapter

You need 3 prong plug on your amp cable

The tranny you have need two prong cable. What do you do with the the 3rd ( ground ) prong from your amp cable ?
You keep the 3 prog and use 2 prong adapter ?

A electrician can built adapter to keep same transformer. Labor will cost same or more than a new one

You have right about the cost of labor.
Ok, I got suggestion from my tech to open the amp, to solder new wire to original tranny's ground lug, from there to dummy ground switch, from switch to metal case of step tranny and in that point connect with the power cable ground wire. Seem simply to me. He said that is safe and no harm to amp tranny or user can be done.
I'll try and I'll let you know. And it'll cost me about 5 bucks for new wire and connectors.

It is not what I do. No need to use the dummy ground switch.

Please answer to my question; is the amp cable have 3 prong plug or two ?
Any picture ?

Original US amp must have 3. You may have cut the 3rd prong ( ground ) to use your tranny.
The ground ( from amp chassis) is already on the amp cable

I connected the ground wire as you proposed to me. No more electric shocks and the amp is running silent now, no buzzing or hissing!
Thanks a lot and cheers!
