I've had my fender deluxe for a couple of years. It's the yellow tweed version. Made in Mexico I think.
Anyhow I use this amp for gigging every weekend.
I love the sound of this amp! But unfortunately it has a reoccurring problem.
I will be on stage playing away happily. And the amp will just stop working.
Its happened quite a number of times. Each time I have sent it away to be repaired.
Firstly they said it was the valves. And they replaced them. The next time I was told it was a dry solder joint. And the fixed it. But now it’s happened again.
It will work for up to an hour sometimes and then stops.
I love the sound of this amp. But this is a real pain in the butt.
Does anyone have any ideas what I should do?

I think your amp may be overheating. I'm not quite sure about this, but I read somewhere about amps overheating. Kinda like your car runs hot and the engine shuts down, something similar to that.

It sounds like you have a problem that's caused by heat, something in the amp might be getting alittle too hot and shutting down.

When it shuts down, does it come right back on? Or does it have to sit alittle awhile (cool) before you can fire it up again?

I've never had that happen in the 40 years I've been using tube amps, but I currently have a HRDlx that has had other issues like bad solder joints on the tube sockets etc. I've never had one overheat and shut down. If it's still under warranty, have a tech check it out. Could be a tube, a relay or a hundred other things. It could be a bad trace on the pcb that flexes and and loses a connection when the board heats up. Take it back to a good tech. Good luck.

I gig with a HR Deluxe as well and was having this problem on an intermittent basis. I had a tech check it but no obvious problem but being the smart guy he is, he pulled all tubes and found a hairline crack in the glass and a possibly loose fillament. It turns out that a janitor had picked up the amp to sweep under it and set it down a little roughly (we suspect...). Anyway I haven't had the problem since but I do blast a fan at the back of the amp since it normally runs hot. Good luck.
