I don't use my Blues Jr. too much. I probably only have about 10 hours or so on it (and I've had it for 2 years or so). Granted, 5 of those hours were really cranking, and I had it through a 4X12 cab. In fact after rehearsal that night I literally burned my hand on the tubes when I was packing up equipment. So anyway, I left my solid state at the rehearsal space, wanted to play at home so I fired up the BJR (whihc is one of the greatest amps ever, BTW). I turned it on, let it ramp up for a couple seconds, strummed the guitar to check for the sound/volume, and I swear it went down a couple of notches volume-wise from the begining of the strum to teh end of the strum. Any thoughts?

Make sure all the tubes are seated properly and check to make sure the speaker is plugged in all the way.

Chet:

I'm placing an order on Musician's Friend in a few minutes. Should I pick up some replacement tubes to keep em around for the day when the tubes blow?

Are the speakers you used in the cab the correct ohms to match the Blues Jr? Probably a dumb question!

Hello Chet, when you say that you have a spare set of tubes, do you mean one of each model of tube or the full set of five tubes? If only one tube dies do you replace just that tube? Thanks.

Cheers.

I have a spare complete set of 5.

I have NOS tubes in mine now, if one goes bad I would remove them all and put in the backup set (the original tubes that came stock in it) until I get all of the NOS tubes tested. Then replace the bad tube/s with another NOS.
