Hey guys,

I have a Fender Blues Junior in the tweed version.
I read about the amp that it has the best sound if you crank the master and then dial in the volume how loud or overdriven you want the sound.

But man, this is way too loud for my apartment.
Does it make sense to get a power attenuator so I could crank the master, dial in the volume/gain and then turn the overall volume down with the attenuator?

Thanks for your help. :D

That is why Attenuator exist :)
Attenuator are not equal in sound.

Not sure you will like the sound, overdrive pedal could be better.

How do you like the sound w/ the volume cranked and the master set low to allow for Apt. levels?

I have some and I like them. But maybe I like the sound with the cranked master also very much, who knows. :D

Yeah, it's good. But I also would like to try the other way around.

Then you'll want to get a speaker attenuator. Maybe a Weber 50watt, would work w/ 4/8/16 Ohm speaker load.
Other brands out there as well, try one before you buy one would be my advice. They are not all the same as Stratele52 was trying to point out.

Thanks, I will try it definitely.

A very different topic now, but I wanted to "mod" my BJ and clip the bright cap.
Unfortunately I didn't find some instructions how to do that.

Is there anything explaining how to so that?

If we open the Link we may read;

" Open the amp up and look at the circuitboard. Right next to the input jacks you will see a small disc capacitor clearly labeled "C-3." Take a small pair of scissors (or mini wire cutters) and snip the lead at either end of the cap. Check out the tone.....wow! MUCH better for harp (and even many guitar players........hint, hint).

The downside is that it will be a royal pain to re-connect the cap if you don't like it, but trust me, you won't want to re-connect it."

_______

Me ; to reconnect ? Easy if you can (?) leave a piece of wire each side when you cut in the middle.
You just need a drop of a solder to reconnect both side of the wire.

Update; it look to be a ceramic cap, forget to easy re-solder :(

I should have inquired more info on which version BJR the OP has.
Referred to the appropriate schematic and then the appropriate capacitor ID#.
Whichever version the mod is the same, clip the bright cap..
Good advice from Stratele52 = for specifics on leaving a tag end on the board end, in case you don't like the results.

It's the tweed version, bought in early 2019 in a local music store in Germany (kinda funny that the text on the back of the amp is in finnish, danish, norwegian etc. :D).

Tomorrow I want to open the amp and clip the bright cap.

Here is a picture of the backplate of the amp.

Didn't want to wait until tomorrow so I opened the amp.

The C3 looks different than on pictures I found. What do I have to do to clip the bright cap?
