hello everyone. i am looking for a versatile amp (not caring if it be a tube amp, solid state. whatever) that can dial in both a REALLY nice clean tone and a decent distortion level. ( i have a really good overdrive pedal to help with that ;) ) by the way. i appreciate all the positive response :) no e-bitchers like on youtube. :D

it depends... how much are you willing to pay? What is your musical style/preference? What place do you perform in?

Right off the bat i could think of:

Roland CUbes

MArshall MGs

Fender Blues Junior/ deluxe

vox valvetronix amps or ac15

oh my god! the fender hot rod deluxe has those new enclosures! that works perfect! 40 watt tube power. 50 watt speaker. and the cab is 80 watts? that should amount to enough to power out a drummer right?

If you're looking for a great classic rock/blues amp, I recommend the Blues Deluxe Reissue. It's relatively inexpensive, takes pedals well, loud as the devil, can be expanded with an extension cabinet, comparatively light and highly versatile. I love mine (so I am a little biased). If you watch Musiciansfriend you can find a great Scratch-n-dent deal.

My two cents! And good luck with your search.

Here's my favorite setup:
Blues Deluxe Reissue with the matching (tweed) Hot Rod Deluxe Extension cabinet. (Looks like a stack of sorts.) Add the tubescreamer pedal for increased overdrive and you have three 'voices' at the touch of your foot-- clean, mildly overdriven (chnl 2), and heavier overdrive with the TS-9 (through chnl 1). Suits Blues, 60's/70's Rock and Roll, Classic Rock, and Country. I play guitars w/ humbuckers and P-90's and can't really speak of single coil Strat type guitars.

You can easily cut through the loudest drummer. The ext. cab makes for a much fuller and potentially bassier sound. A cab does not really make it louder, just fuller.

Test drive one and maybe you'll agree. Good luck in your search.

I agree with what others have said:
If you want a blues / classic rock sound, you want tubes. If you want tubes and you want to outplay the drummer, you want the Blues Deluxe.
