I just discovered that Fender no longer supports Fuse for my Mustang 1 V1 and that I can't download sounds or anything using my current computer.

So, would it be smart to dump my Mustang 1 V1 before the value goes too low and buy something more current?

I know it will still work with what it has now but don't want to wait until it's only going to get me $20.

Thanks all...

Well, I see one on Ebait for $75, so you're already on that trajectory.
But you'll get better and less sarcastic advice if you post the question on the Mustang GT forum.

The money you spent on that toy was tossed into the crapper at the moment you wrote the check.

Fads come and fads go but *REAL* Fender gear is forever.

Flush that turd and get yourself some.

It’s hard to argue with the versatility of use and the compactness of size of electronic modeling gear.
It’s growing harder to argue with the tone of such gear as they do keep improving on that aspect but it’s easy to despise the built in planned obsolescence of it and the fairly reasonable certainty of its premature failure given the price point.

It is impossible (IMO) to argue with the tone and longevity of the BF / SF amps and older.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

+1K

I argued that point for years but in the end I lost - they finally pried my analog phone from my hands.

So I wanted to do some recording this weekend. My tube amp is in the shop. Even if it wasn't though, in order to get a decent clean recording, I would have to:

(1) have an environment without noise (I happen to live next to a train and a stop sign)

(2) have a good quality USB mic, or regular mic with an interface

(3) be quiet and use headphones when recording

Instead, I just ran a USB cable from my Mustang III v1 amp directly to my laptop. Adjusted for latency. That's it. Headphones are optional.

The recording quality via USB is insane considering the price point. Someone just said $75 up there right? A good quality USB mic alone is $200+. Same goes for an external interface.

As long as it's a pain in the $@! to record my vintage tube amp (and I dont see that changing anytime soon) the old obsolete Mustang amp is my go-to for recording and still going strong. If it breaks? I'll throw another quarter in the pinball machine.
