I want to buy a Bugera T5 tube amp head and need a speaker cabinet for it. Can I simply plug the output from the head into the “Power in” Jack. Will this work OK?

It'll work fine......if your intention is to blow the piss out of the FM65.

In order to safely use its speaker with another amp it needs to be completely disconnected from the Fender chassis. You'll need to fabricate a new wiring harness (or use adapters) in order to hook it up to the Bugera head.

Arjay, Thanks for your input. I would not plug into the guitar jack, but into the “Power-in” jack. From some reading, I thought it allowed bypass of the amp part of the FM65R and direct access to speaker with FM65R turned off. Am I wrong about how that would work? If so, please clarify the use of that jack. Thanks.

I thought I could Plug the Bugera head into the FM65r because the FM65R Manual says this about the “PWR IN” Jack:

PRE OUT/PWR IN - (1) Effects Loop- Connect PRE OUT to an effects device input, then connect the effects device output to PWR IN. (2) Multiple Amps- Connect the primary unit’s PRE OUT to the auxiliary unit’s PWR IN. The primary unit is used to control all auxiliary amps. (3) Recording or Reinfor cementConnect PRE OUT to sound equipment’s input. Both jacks use a TS (Tip-Sleeve) standard type plug for connections. PRE OUT includes onboard tone shaping.

What do you think?

Pre Out from Bugera head, into Power Amp in on the 65r (if it has one), this is fine.

But, never plug the “output” (which means speaker output) of an amp into another amp.

Best, as Arjay said, just use the speaker of the 65r by itself, plug it into the output of the Bugera head.
