There could be 6 if some of the bias caps were blown as well.
Plugging it into 220 would blow them in a hurry.
I hope you got a good deal on it...

I did... got it for $300. It was plugged into standard outlet. Worked fine for a little, then just crapped out. One of the tubes was glowing blue and the other was dim and cooler to the touch. Not sure if that means anything.

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for all of the replies everyone. Most if it was too technical for me to understand. Hahaha.

I wish the repair guy had given me some of the info that you guys did. Instead he basically said "Well you did something it didn't like." He seemed to focus on the extension cabinet. He didn't really offer any alternatives like you guys did.

I was really just worried about plugging my cab into it after this episode. So far everything is fine, but I have not used the cabinet with it since the repair.

No problem using the extension cabinet, it is the correct impedance (ohms). I routinely have been using mismatched impedance cabinets with amps for many, many years, it is not a problem. As long as your mismatch is within a 2 to 1 ratio, you’ll be fine. Meaning, if the amp is 8 ohm, you can safely use a 4 ohm to 16 ohm cab, without issue.

It seems to me, from your last post, that you simply blew an output tube/tubes, and that possibly your caps needed replaced due to age. I don’t believe you did anything wrong, stuff happens.
