Has anyone had first hand playing experience with either the Jazzmaster ultralight or the Jazz King combo? I AM interested in the size and power of the ultralight, but am worried that it might be too clean if i decide to play anything else but straight jazz!! please give me some opinions!

The Jazzmaster Ultralight has a clean and drive (dirty) channel.

2 Channels (Normal and Drive) with an independent set of effects on each.

I have owned the ultralight head/cab since 02/15/09 aand am very pleased with its performance. The clean amp has 2 voices:jazz/twin I am assuming that there is a comb filter involved but since the schematic for this amp is proprietary to Fender that is a pure guess on my part. The drive channel will get as distorted as you want depending on the drive level. However, this channel only has the jazz amp voicing available ,but, you do have the EQ's for both amps and it is very easy to find the tonal characteristics that you are looking for. The choice of single or dual coil p'ups also has a big effect on overall tonality. I hope this is of some help to you. By the way I used to play an Aerodyne Strat through mine and Inow play a Classic Player Deluxe Tele w/Tremolo and Fender wide range HB's ,both guitars sound excellent with this amp . It is only a mattter of finding the tone settings of the guitar and amp . I hope you enjoy it if you make this amp your choice.
