Hi, I'm new to these forums as a member, but i've been browsing them for a while just as a guest and I have to say, I quite like these forums :)

But to the point... I just received my Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue today via Fedex from a nice guy who was selling it. However, he packaged all the tubes seperately to prevent damage while being shipped, and while this wass definitely a good move, it leaves me quite confused. I'm quite new to the whole tube amp world and I dont know which tubes go where. I see all the "slots" in the back and the number of slots is the same as the number of tubes that i received, which is relieving, but I need to know the ORDER OF THE TUBES (emphasized for those who don't want to read this whole story).

If someone could PLEASE let me know the stock order of tubes or even be kind enough to provide me with a nice and clear picture of the tubes, I would TRULY appreciate it. Thanks! :)

There should be a piece of paper stuck to the inside of the cabinet with the tubes listed on it and in order. (if I'm remembering correctly)

It's usually on the left inside cabinet panel, looking in from the back. If it's there, it will be easy to spot. If you don't see it, the previous owner may have removed it. (why someone would do this - I have no idea)

Post again if you don't have the paper and maybe some one can find a picture or something to help you.

Good Luck! You're going to love that amp when you get it going!

It tells you about the pre amp tubes - V1 through V6.
The power tubes, the 6V6s, would be V7 and V8, and the rectifier tube, the 5AR4, should be V9.

Remember, all these positions are going from right to left, looking at the back of the amp. Example: V9 V8 V7 V6 V5 V4 V3 V2 V1

The tubes push straight in - don't twist them - and pull straight back out - again - don't twist them.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks rholloman! I don't know how I didn't see that sticker, I think I may have been looking inside the amp from the opposite angle and completely missed it! Anyways, I got all the tubes in (and the covers for the preamp tubes) without any trouble! I was absolutely floored by the tone once I turned it on! The previous owner had upgraded the stock speaker to a Weber Blue Dog Ceramic speaker and it sounds greattttttttttt! Thanks again!

You 're Welcome. I'm glad everything worked out for you.

About the speaker:
If you decide you want a "clean" sound (like a '65 Fender clean sound), I got that from my '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue with a Weber California series ceramic speaker with a metal dust cone - and I also use Ruby 6L6 power tubes. Re-bias the power tubes, of course.

Enjoy your amp. :D

Welcome rholloman,

I see you have your problem solved but I wanted to warn about that amp. I know it seems like a good idea now, but eventually you will be tempted to buy another amp. We're guitarists, it happens.

Which brings me to the problem.

You will go and turn on another amp, and it will sound lame. So you will mess with the knobs, and still not quite right. You'll pick another one to try, and no, it wont do. Then you'll get home, turn on YOUR amp, and there it is...

In short, no other amp will ever compare to the DRRI which you now possess.

Have fun.
