Your tubes shouldn't be going out on your every 4-6 months gigging once a week and practicing. Even the Hot Rod isn't that hard on tubes. If you're not repair savvy, have a good tech check it out.

I agree. Pre amp tubes don't go bad like that unless there is something wrong. One thing that I HIGHLY reccomend is buying tubes from a good dealer. When you buy tubes from musicians friend or just some store they are new but not tested so you may get a new tube that is only 75% good. I swear buy www.dougstubes.com So take it to a tech to give it a good run over and always buy good tested tubes.

Where in the world did you get that information? Don't tell me......... Doug's tubes?
A lot of the larger tube manufacturers not only test them but burn them in too. I hate when people spout rumors.
Take the amp to a tech before you cook something.

thanks a million for all the replies.
i have taken it to a tech, however the only authorized fender guy around me has the IQ of sawdust, he was no help. Once he ecen destroyed the neck of my strat by adjusting the truss rod too much, thank god fender sent me a new neck and i learned to set up my guitar myself.
i also own a SF bassman 50 that i do love, however i have pretty much permanently lent it to the other guitar player in my band.
im considering just trading this amp in and upgrading to something better. i want the fender sound, but im not sure if i want to go the fender route again. Maybe save money for a Mesa Lonestar. thanks for the help everyone.

hi... maybe you dont use your amp of the correct way...

1. to power on your amp first turn on the standby switch after the power on switch and after 15 minutes later turn off the standby switch to play your guitar.

3. for turn off your amp do the same in the inverse way

i hope that i really help you
sorry my english :)

Do you know how to solder a resistor ?

If so it's really easy to improve the reliability of this amp!

Great answer if you can afford to move up to a "real" amp, :P
For those of us who are on limited budgets the hot-rod series is about all that can be afforded from the Fenders lineup.
Knock on wood, so far our little group has 2 of the blues deluxe amps, one has worked with no troubles for over a year and the other is just a few weeks old, speaker not even broken in yet.
