I have had some pretty consistent problems running pedals through my Bassbreaker 15 combo. I have spent hours trouble-shooting different aspects. I am currently running a Boss CS-3 compressor and an EHX Big Muff Tri re-release through the front of the amp, and they sound great. I am running Digitech Polara Reverb and CS-7 chorus through the fx loop.. no problems here either, outside of a little noise, which I expect. I can actually run all four simultaneously and get good results.

On the other hand, I have tried to run an OCD and an MXR Super Badass (not together) to get a heavier distortion and they both sound horrible.. almost as if all the tone controls are turned down. I describe it as sounding like a thick piece of plastic is covering the front of the amp. I get the same results with both of these pedals no matter how I run them (on the pedalboard signal chain with integrated power or individually, directly into the amp with isolated power.)

Additionally, if I set the amp's gain structure control to medium or high with cables plugged into the fx loop it creates an unbearable buzzing noise. This amp does have the upgrade to the "send" jack that was originally causing a lot of problems.

Just looking for a little guidance, and I apologize for my ignorance.. just getting back into playing after more than a decade and my musical likes have expanded since my teen years when my Peavey solid state amp and a Metal Zone pedal kept me completely content..

Any help / advice would be appreciated!

Its difficult to be accurate with a diagnosis as Fender hasn't released the schematics for the unit.
From other users experience, the issue seems partly due to impedance mismatch. A low impedance send and a high impedance return. This could mess with pedal loading and response. The true bypass pedals are reported as having trouble dealing with it.
The buzz from long cables in the loop could be from an AC ground loop. Try a battery supply, then a 2-3prong AC adaptor. if either make a difference, then you may want to construct noise cancelling cables.
Take a couple 1/4" TRS cables and cut the ends off. Connect 1/4" TS connectors. Connect the extra conductor to ground at the amp end. Insulate the other end that connects to the pedals. Mark the ends pedal and amp. It works by inserting the noise picked up by the cable into the ground circuit. This cancels lots of hum buzz and computer noise.
